His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting today, Monday, at Al-Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, with Mr. Salem Saleh bin Burik, Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb, Governor of Central Bank, and Mr. Hossam Al-Sharjabi, Head of the Economic Team.

The meeting, attended by Mr. Hani Wahab, Deputy Minister of Finance, was dedicated to discussing recent domestic developments, primarily the economic and service conditions, changes in the national currency exchange rate, the progress of government reforms, and the necessary measures to improve the state’s access to its sovereign revenues. It also addressed coordinated interventions with various agencies to mitigate the impact of the humanitarian crisis in the country.

The meeting touched on economic performance indicators and the approved spending plan to fulfill state obligations, including the regular payment of public sector salaries and the sustainability of essential services—particularly the supply of fuel needed to operate government-run power plants.

Briefings were delivered by the Prime Minister, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the Head of the Economic Team regarding financial and monetary indicators in light of the continued halt in oil exports and its disastrous repercussions on living conditions, as well as the measures taken to contain the impact of the destructive economic practices of the terrorist Houthi militias.

The Prime Minister also discussed the urgent decisions and actions taken by the Cabinet in its recent meeting to address the electricity crisis, including the provision of emergency fuel supplies for power plants in the interim capital, Aden, and the increase in their daily allocations of crude oil and mazut.

During the meeting, the President of the Leadership Council emphasized the importance of intensifying government efforts to meet the state’s essential obligations, moving forward with comprehensive reforms, strengthening the Central Bank’s role in managing monetary policy, and utilizing its tools to curb inflation and support the national currenc.

President Al-Alimi reaffirmed that economic and service-related issues will remain the most critical challenges for both the Council and the government and among their top priorities. He also commended the role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, noting that their economic, developmental, and humanitarian interventions have been key in enabling the state to meet its essential obligations over recent years.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of several measures and recommendations concerning the issues on its agenda. It was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Leadership Council.
