President of the Presidential Leadership Council discusses international support to combat terrorism

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met with UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Voronkov, on the sidelines of his participation in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting touched on developments in the Yemeni situation and the repercussions of the Houthi militia war at all levels.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the UN official on the increasing terrorist threats fueled by the Houthi militias who are interworking with Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
His Excellency the President pointed to the international support required to rebuild state institutions, law enforcement agencies, and authorities to combat terrorism, organized crime, and to strengthen their capabilities in deterring security threats in coordination with regional allies and international partners.
His Excellency presented the facts of explicit service between the Houthi militias and terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, which is now run by a regional chamber based in Iran.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Permanent Representative of Yemen to the United Nations, Abdullah Al-Saadi, and the Ambassador of Yemen to the United States, Mohammed Al-Hadrami.
