President of the Presidential Leadership Council receives delegation of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI)

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today Tuesday, the delegation of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI) headed by Ms. Anne Cronin. The delegation included representatives of the WHO and the UNICEF.

During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the support provided by the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations (GAVI), especially in the field of combating diseases and epidemics, and strengthening the capabilities of the Yemeni health system with cold chains that are badly needed in all governorates.

His Excellency the President also praised the National Health Foundation, its medical teams in various facilities and governorates, and their appreciated efforts in saving lives despite the difficult circumstances and possibilities exacerbated by the Houthi militia war backed by the Iranian regime.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council directed the government to provide all forms of support for the success of the national immunization campaign, which is launching on September 23, and to ensure that it reaches all children targeted by the campaign.

The meeting touched on fields of partnership with the Global Alliance for Vaccines, and the successes achieved in this field, especially at the level of combating polio, which has been eliminated again in the liberated governorates. His Excellency stressed the importance of continuing pressure on the Houthi militias to end their ban on life-saving vaccines, and to enable immunization teams to reach areas under their control afflicted with various diseases and epidemics.
