The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) convened a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council. The meeting was attended by its members: Sultan Al-Arada, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Mujali, and Faraj Al-Buhsani in person, while Tariq Saleh and Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami participated via video conference. Council member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi was absent with an excuse.

The meeting was devoted to discussing local and regional developments, with a primary focus on the latest developments in economic, service, security, and humanitarian conditions, exacerbated by the attacks of the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militias on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.

At the outset of the meeting, the Presidential Leadership Council extended its congratulations to the workers of Yemen on the occasion of International Workers' Day. The Council paid tribute to their immense contributions across all fields of work and production, recognizing them as symbols of dignity, development, and reconstruction, and their steadfast resistance to the war waged by the terrorist Houthi militias and their systematic destruction of job opportunities and decent livelihoods.

The PLC was briefed by the President, Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi on the outcomes of his recent meetings at the local, regional, and international levels. These discussions were part of ongoing efforts to align policies and visions, coordinate optimal responses to economic, service, and security challenges, and effectively address emerging developments.

Council members also provided briefings on their assigned tasks and government reports on the implementation of the Council's decisions and recommendations. These measures aim to enhance security and stability, improve citizens' living conditions and access to services, and ensure the state fulfills its essential obligations—including the payment of employee salaries, and the necessary allocations and interventions for importing essential goods, operational support for power plants, and efforts to curb budget deficits, inflation, and exchange rates of the national currency.

The reports also included a briefing on the situation across the operational frontlines, the level of combat readiness, coordination in line with the Council’s decision on unifying battlefronts, and developments in several governorates.

The Council reaffirmed the state’s commitment to addressing service-related bottlenecks, boosting resources, and supporting the Central Bank of Yemen’s measures to regain market control, eliminate monetary distortions, and enhance compliance with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing standards.

The Council held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the worsening living conditions, international sanctions, militarization of regional waters, and damage to the interests and national security of the Yemeni people.

The Council called on the terrorist Houthi militia to prioritize national interests over those of their backers, abandon Iran’s expansionist agenda, lay down arms, and pursue peace according to nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed references, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2216..

The Council welcomed the significant positive shift in the international community's stance in support of the Yemeni people's aspirations to restore state institutions. It emphasized that the best path to achieving regional security and protecting maritime routes begins with supporting the UN-member state and its armed forces in fully asserting sovereignty over national territory, as part of a comprehensive strategic partnership with both regional and international communities.

In this context, the Council reiterated its deep gratitude for the continued support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership, and for their highly valued humanitarian and development efforts across various sectors.

Finally, the Council reviewed and approved the minutes of its previous meeting, conducted a brief assessment of its coordinated recommendations with relevant authorities, and made several decisions regarding the issues on its agenda.
