President Al-Alimi in Speech to Nation: “A Nation United in Goodness Would Never Be Defeated”

His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, called on the Yemeni people and national forces to unite, reject division, and uphold the values of solidarity and compassion. He also urged the private sector, business community, and social initiatives to intensify their charitable programs and support those in need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. This, he emphasized, is a time when all governmental and community resources must be mobilized to alleviate the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militia.

In his address on the occasion of Ramadan, President Al-Alimi, on behalf of himself, the Council members, and the government, extended his heartfelt congratulations to all Yemenis at home and abroad. He prayed that this sacred month brings mercy, unity, and resilience and hoped that it marks progress toward Yemen’s victory, the restoration of state institutions, security, and stability.

The President’s speech, delivered on his behalf by Minister of Endowments and Guidance Dr. Mohammed Shabiba, included a special tribute to the heroic members of the armed forces, security personnel, and popular resistance forces stationed on battlefronts and in service sectors. He also expressed gratitude to national entities, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and awareness platforms in Yemen and abroad for their unwavering support in strengthening Yemen’s resilience.

“In these blessed days and nights, we call upon all, especially benefactors in the business sector and private enterprises, to uphold the values of mercy, provide aid to the distressed, and enhance humanitarian efforts for affected families,” President Al-Alimi said. His Excellency added: “A nation united in goodness and solidarity would never be defeated.”

He also added, “This holy month has come back while our people continue to endure the consequences of an unjust war imposed by an Iran-backed terrorist militia. This group employs all forms of intimidation and destruction to devastate livelihoods and obstruct any governmental, regional, or international efforts to ease the dire humanitarian crisis.”

The President reaffirmed his and the Council’s awareness of the severe economic and service-related hardships, as well as the mounting pain reflected in peaceful demonstrations, free voices, and the cries of mothers and children across the nation. He vowed to make every effort to mitigate the suffering caused by the Houthi militia, which had attempted to bring about a complete economic collapse by targeting and halting oil exports.

Despite losing over 60% of its public revenue, the Yemeni state and its people have remained steadfast. “Here we stand today, stronger and more resilient than ever, nearly two and a half years after those criminal attacks,” the President said. “We remain committed to transforming crises into opportunities for decisive victory, with God’s help.”

He also addressed Yemenis living under Houthi control, reminding them that the government had made every effort and all possible concessions to improve their conditions and resume salary payments. He went on to say: “But this group wants nothing for the Yemeni people except poverty, oppression, and humiliation.” He reaffirmed his commitment to standing by the citizens in areas forcibly controlled by the terrorist militias, supporting their will and aspirations for the day when this chain will finally be broken.

He added: “We believe that no matter how long the night may last, the dawn will surely come, and Yemen will rise despite all hardships.”

On the Arab level, the President confirmed his acceptance of an invitation from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to attend the upcoming extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo on March 4, emphasizing Yemen’s unwavering stance in support of the Palestinian people and its rejection of any attempts to displace them or undermine their just cause.

Additionally, President Al-Alimi issued directives for the immediate release of prisoners who have served three-quarters or half of their sentences. He also instructed authorities to review the release of detainees held for private financial claims through commercial guarantees, forming committees across governorates from the judiciary, local authorities, and chambers of commerce to assist those in financial distress. Following is the speech:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, who says in His noble Book:

“O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” (Al-Baqarah 2:183),

peace and blessings be upon prophet Mohammed.

Dear citizens, inside and outside homeland,

I extend my warmest congratulations to you all, on my behalf and on behalf of my fellow members of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan—a month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from the Fire. It is a month that Allah has made a source of mercy for His servants and an opportunity for piety, solidarity, and cooperation.

This greeting is especially extended to the heroes of our armed and security forces, the popular resistance, and all military formations stationed on the frontlines and in the fields of honor and dignity, as well as to those working tirelessly in various public service institutions during this sacred month. We pray to Allah to make it a month of blessings and goodness and to grant our people their long-awaited aspirations for victory, the restoration of state institutions, security, and stability.

This is also an opportunity to once again express our gratitude to all national forces, our brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the voices of awareness both inside and outside the country, who have played a crucial role in strengthening our people’s legendary resilience.

Dear brothers and sisters,

This great month is distinguished by its immense virtues, making it a time for acts of worship, closeness to Allah, and the pursuit of His mercy and forgiveness. Blessed are those who seize this opportunity for His pleasure by engaging in good deeds and righteous acts.

“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey—then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Al-Baqarah 2:185)

Ramadan is not merely abstaining from food, drink, and desires; rather, it is a spiritual school that nurtures patience and piety. It is a time for drawing closer to Allah through fasting, prayers, recitation of the Qur’an, and acts of charity towards the poor and needy. It is also a golden opportunity to renew our covenant with Allah and revive our noble Islamic values, which call for solidarity, compassion, and brotherhood within society.

Free and honorable citizens everywhere,

This blessed month comes upon us while our people continue to suffer from the consequences of a cruel war waged by terrorist coup militias, backed by the Iranian regime. These militias have exploited every means of intimidation and destruction to strip people of their livelihoods and obstruct every effort by the government and the international community to alleviate the dire humanitarian suffering.

My colleagues in the Presidential Leadership Council and I are fully aware of the severe economic and service-related crises and the growing pain reflected in your peaceful protests, your free voices, and the cries of mothers and children across every corner of our beloved homeland.

The terrorist militias had gambled on destroying oil facilities and halting exports, hoping that this would lead to a total collapse within a few days after the state lost more than 60% of its public revenues—the primary source of foreign currency reserves.

However, despite the financial crisis caused by this criminal plan, their conspiracy has failed, thanks to your patience, awareness, and the support of our brothers and friends. Today, nearly two and a half years after those criminal attacks, we remain steadfast, committed to transforming challenges into opportunities for ultimate victory, by Allah’s grace.

I realize that this is not the time for promises, as the priority now is ensuring access to food, water, medicine, and essential services. This is our current focus, and we will spare no effort in alleviating suffering while remaining committed to the national struggle for the restoration of state institutions and the overthrow of the coup, which remains the root cause of the crisis.

We are more certain than ever that victory is near, and that this sectarian project will come to an end. This reality requires us all to be prepared for the potential repercussions of the militias’ crisis and the actions of their Iranian sponsors.

Dear citizens,

We are confident that the difficult years of war have exposed the terrorist militias’ plans to keep our country isolated from the rapid global development happening around us.

The challenges facing our country are not limited to the consequences of the coup alone, but also extend to attempts to turn Yemen into a battleground for international extortion by threatening maritime security in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden. This is part of Iran’s well-known agenda to destabilize the region and undermine just causes.

For this reason, the economic crisis and the growing security threats to maritime navigation have been at the heart of our discussions with allies, partners, and regional and international stakeholders.

In these discussions, we are not seeking military support, as some may believe, but rather the cessation of Iran’s harmful interference in our country. We have unwavering faith in our cause, confidence in the determination of our people, and the courage of our army in building the bright future that Yemenis deserve.

These productive diplomatic efforts, which my colleagues in the Presidential Leadership Council and I are leading, are an essential part of our collective defense policy. We face a common regional enemy and must protect shared interests.

Accordingly, we have affirmed that this partnership must be based on international commitments, supporting the legitimate government—a member of the United Nations—in protecting its territories and preventing them from becoming a platform for threats to international peace and security.

On the Arab front, we have responded to the invitation of my brother, His Excellency President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, to attend the upcoming extraordinary Arab summit in Cairo. This affirms our nation’s unwavering stance alongside the Palestinian people and our rejection of all attempts to displace them or eliminate their just cause. We will continue to defend their right to establish an independent and sovereign state.

Free Yemenis everywhere,

During this holy month, we remind our fellow citizens in areas forcibly controlled by the terrorist militias that we have done everything possible to improve your conditions and resume salary payments. However, these militias desire nothing but poverty, oppression, and humiliation for the Yemeni people.

This war, the burdensome taxes they impose, the crimes and arrests they commit against you—these are merely fragments of their larger project of servitude, racism, and tyranny, dragging Yemen back by centuries.

One of the key steps to ending this suffering is to stop funding the militias’ war efforts with money, men, and weapons while upholding principles of justice, freedom, and equal citizenship.

Perhaps you have witnessed the widespread social movement in the liberated governorates as an indicator of life and the freedoms guaranteed by the constitution and the law, rather than a manifestation of chaos, as the militias’ propaganda attempts to portray it. We do not burden you beyond your capacity under the pressure of oppressive force; rather, we reaffirm our support for you, your will, and your aspirations—that the time has come for this chain to be broken.

Dear brothers and sisters,

This holy month teaches us patience, fairness, and speaking the truth. It urges us to hold our tongues and refrain from spreading rumors and misinformation. Let us use technology and social media responsibly, focusing on what benefits people and renews hope for a better future in which the nightmare of tyranny is lifted, and security, stability, and peace are restored by God’s will.

In these blessed days and nights, I call upon everyone—especially benefactors, businessmen, and the private sector—to embody the values of mercy and provide aid to those in need. A nation that stands united in kindness and solidarity will never be defeated.

On this great religious occasion, we have directed the relevant authorities to immediately release prisoners who have served three-quarters or half of their sentences and to consider releasing those detained for private rights under commercial guarantees. Additionally, committees will be formed in the governorates, comprising prosecutors, local authorities, and chambers of commerce, to assist those in financial distress.

Great Yemeni People,

We believe that no matter how long the night lasts, the dawn will come, and Yemen will rise again despite all hardship.

We pray to Allah in these blessed nights to grant us the strength to seize Ramadan’s virtues, to shower mercy upon our martyrs, heal our wounded, free our detainees, and protect our beloved country and its people.

May He protect our country, our people, and all nations from harm and misfortune.

May God accept our fasting and prayers—He is the All-Hearing, the Responsive.

Blessed Holy Month,

Wishing you all a blessed year.

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
