The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Tuesday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, attended by council members Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Sheikh Othman Mujali, and Mr. Faraj Al-Bahsani. Additionally, Maj. General Tariq Saleh and Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami joined via video call, while council members Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and Sultan Al-Arada were excused from the meeting due to valid reasons.

The meeting was dedicated to discussing recent political, economic, service-related, and humanitarian developments exacerbated by the terrorist attacks of the Iranian-backed Houthi militia on oil facilities and international shipping routes.

At the outset, the council reviewed the government’s plan and its executive matrix for economic recovery, addressing fluctuations in the national currency and essential goods prices, enhancing social protection for vulnerable groups, improving the state’s access to sovereign resources, meeting essential commitments, and implementing comprehensive reforms supported by regional and international partners.

The council approved the plan and directed its immediate implementation in line with constitutional and legal references, observations from the economic team, and donor-coordinated standards, focusing on curbing the budget deficit, strengthening the national currency, and controlling inflation in essential goods and services.

In this context, the council expressed its full awareness of the worsening humanitarian suffering caused by the terrorist Houthi militia and acknowledged the legitimate public demands for improved living conditions, services, and livelihood opportunities.

The Presidential Leadership Council also reiterated its deep appreciation for the support of Saudi Arabia and the UAE for the Yemeni people and their legitimate leadership. The council praised Saudi Arabia’s announcement of a new deposit for the Central Bank and an additional batch of financial aid for the state budget. It also welcomed the UK-led arrangements for an international donor conference.

The council reviewed reports on the implementation of its comprehensive strategy to address the requirements of the next phase, prioritizing development, urgent economic and service-related measures, restoring state institutions, advancing financial and administrative reforms, combating corruption, and promoting transparency, accountability, and governance principles.

The meeting also discussed developments in Hadhramout and the measures proposed to address the urgent demands in the governorate.

The council commended the positive stance of local authorities and national components in Hadhramout towards its announced plan to normalize conditions in the governorate, respond to legitimate demands, and strengthen its prominent role in the national equation and decision-making at both local and central levels.

The council expressed confidence that this plan, with the wisdom of Hadhramout’s people, would resolve tensions, end protests, and pave the way for comprehensive reforms to restore the governorate’s status as a driver of development, stability, and peace.

The council directed the government to oversee and monitor the necessary studies for establishing new power plants and improving healthcare services in the governorate, utilizing revenues from the sale of crude oil stored in Al-Dhaba and Al-Maseela tanks and surplus diesel from PetroMasila.

The council also emphasized the state’s commitment to integrating Hadhramout’s people into the armed forces and security sectors in accordance with law and recruitment standards while mobilizing resources to develop the governorate and ensuring its fair participation in state structures and any upcoming political entitlements.

The meeting reviewed a plan submitted by the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism and media representatives within the Presidential Leadership Council on the directions and parameters of the media discourse to address current local, regional, and international developments. The council approved the plan and established a committee led by one of its members to support the media front in line with council orientations, media policy, and the transitional phase’s national priorities.

The council also discussed the situation in Al-Bayda governorate and measures taken and needed to counter the terrorism of the Houthi militia and its severe human rights violations in the village of Hanakat Al-Masoud in Al-Quraishyah District. These violations include targeting and destroying civilian homes with various weapons and drones, imposing a suffocating blockade on the area, and preventing residents from accessing medical services and food supplies for the second consecutive week.

The council directed the government to provide urgent aid to the affected families, support all forms of resistance against the sectarian agenda, and take the necessary steps to protect human rights in coordination with regional and international partners.
