Today, Thursday, His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Sheikh Othman Mujalli, the Council member, met in New York with Ms. Catherine Russell, the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

The meeting addressed UNICEF’s interventions in humanitarian fields, particularly in the health and education sectors, and the necessary measures to coordinate and direct this aid to those who are most in need.

The meeting discussed the organization's plans to strengthen its interventions in child protection, providing safe water, school feeding, quality education, skill-building, and all forms of life-saving assistance.

His Excellency the President praised the existing partnership between the government and UNICEF in improving key services, combating malnutrition, providing vaccines against deadly diseases, promoting environmental sanitation, and offering psychosocial support.

The president of the Presidential Leadership Council addressed the violations committed by the Houthi militia against children, including continued child recruitment, the opening extremist mobilization centers, and ‏changing school curriculum to include racist and terrorist ideas glorifying violence and hatred.

In this context, he noted that the Houthi militias continue to prevent access to vaccinations. Furthermore, the militias incite against vaccinating children in areas under their control, which has resulted in the reoccurrence of diseases that Yemen had gotten rid of many years ago.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaya'e Mohsen Al-Zindani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates.
