The decree of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, to establish the Joint Operations Authority

Today, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces issued Decree No. (40) of 2023 regarding the establishment of the Joint Operations Authority. Article 1 of this decree stipulated that the Joint Operations Authority be established, with its headquarters in the interim capital, Aden, under the supervision of the Minister of Defense.

Article 2 stipulated that the Minister of Defense determines the components, objectives, and tasks of the authority and its organizational regulations, and it is issued in a decree by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Article 3 stipulated the appointment of a Head and a deputy- head of the authority, according to a decree by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, based on the proposal of the Minister of Defense.

Article 4 stipulated that the authority shall be affiliated to the Ministry of Defense in all its tasks, in a manner that does not conflict with or prejudice the organizational structure of the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. Article 5 stipulated that the Minister of Defense and the Chief of Staff must take the necessary measures to implement the decision. Article 6 stipulated that in the event of the absence of the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Staff shall act on his behalf to supervise the authority. The seventh and final Article of this decree stipulated that it shall be implemented from the date of its issuance and shall be published in the Official Gazette and military publications.
