President holds a meeting with Prime Minister and concerned officials in economic affairs

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Tuesday, with the Prime Minister, Dr. Maeen Abdulmalik, and a number of ministers and specialists concerned with economic affairs.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Hossam Al-Sharjabi, the head of the economic team, Ahmed Ghaleb, the Governor of the Central Bank, Salem Bin Brik, the Minister of Finance, Manea Bin Yameen the Minister of Electricity and Energy, Saeed Al-Shamasi, the Minister of Oil and Minerals, and Hani Wahab, the Deputy Minister of Finance.
In the meeting, they discussed indicators of the Yemeni economy and new changes in the status of the national currency, goods, and supplies of basic services, especially electricity and energy, in light of developments in the local situation, including the continued cessation of oil exports as a result of the Houthi terrorist attacks. In addition, they discussed the regional and international developments related to the dangerous escalation of the Israeli occupation forces and its potential repercussions on various sectors.
During the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council was briefed on the government measures taken to improve economic performance, and to continue financial and service reforms coordinated with regional allies and international partners, in a way that ensures securing the basic needs of citizens and reducing the suffering caused by recurring electrical outages at all levels.
The concerned ministers presented the resolutions implemented and the support required to overcome the sustainable problem in the energy sector, and the importance of full coordination between the ministries of electricity, oil and minerals, and finance to provide resources and sufficient fuel to operate the generation plants, and reduce the hours of programmed outages to the lowest level, in order to reach radical solutions for the crisis in this vital sector.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the need for collective action to confront the existing challenges, according to scheduled plans that can be implemented urgently, and in the medium and strategic term.
His Excellency briefed the ministerial meeting on the devastating effects left by the tropical cyclone on the infrastructure and public and private properties in the governorates of Al-Mahara, Socotra and Hadhramaut. Furthermore, His Excellency discussed the interventions required to reduce the impact of the disaster on citizens, economic and commercial activities, especially on the international road with neighboring countries.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed his praise for the role of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting the Yemeni economy, strengthening the position of the local currency, and thwarting the plans of the Houthi militias to plunge the country into a comprehensive economic and humanitarian crisis.
The meeting approved a number of urgent solutions in the electricity and energy sector, improving revenues, and accelerating the matrix of economic, financial, and service reforms.
