His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), held a phone call today, Thursday, with PLC member and Governor of Hadhramout Salem Al-Khanbashi. During the call they reviewed the situation in the governorate and the measures taken following Houthi attacks on Al-Rayyan International Airport.

President Al-Alimi was briefed on the impact of the terrorist attacks, airport operations, and the measures taken to protect passengers and staff and ensure the continued provision of services. The briefing also covered the security and humanitarian situation and efforts to meet the needs of citizens and displaced persons.

The PLC President commended the measures taken by the local authority and the governorate’s security committee to enhance security and stability and protect vital facilities. He also praised efforts to receive displaced persons, mobilize hospitals to treat those wounded in the criminal attacks, and respond to community appeals for blood donations. He described these efforts as a reflection of Yemenis’ unity and solidarity in confronting Houthi terrorism.

President Al-Alimi affirmed that targeting airports and civilian facilities, whether in Yemen or neighboring countries, and shelling residential neighborhoods in Taiz and other governorates would not deter the Yemeni people and their Armed Forces from continuing the battle to restore state institutions, with support from the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. He stressed that protecting citizens and deterring sources of threats are responsibilities that the state will discharge with full resolve.

The PLC President underscored that the Houthi escalation and attempts to terrorize civilians and disrupt their daily lives would not give the rebel group an opportunity to impose its will or evade accountability. He added that these actions would in no way halt Dawn of Yemen Operation from achieving its objectives, ending the coup, and extending state authority over the entire national territory.
