PLC President Commends Air Force Role in Deterring Houthi Threat, Directs Increased Relief Efforts

President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, held phone calls today, Sunday, with PLC members Lt. Gen. Sultan Al-Arada, Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, and Salem Al-Khanbashi, Prime Minister Dr. Shaia Mohsen Al-Zindani, Commander of the Fourth Military Region Maj. Gen. Hamdi Shukri; and a number of governors and military commanders.

The calls focused on the latest developments on the military, security, service, and humanitarian fronts, as well as the response of state institutions to the repercussions of the Houthi terrorist escalation.

President Al-Alimi received briefings on the progress of operations along various fronts and axes, the level of combat readiness, and the operational and logistical support provided to the armed forces, security forces, and all military formations. He was also briefed on the security, service, and humanitarian situation, as well as measures taken to protect civilians and displaced people forced from their homes by the Iran-backed Houthi militias.

The PLC President commended the Armed Forces, security forces, and all military formations stationed along the various fronts for their bravery and sacrifices in the decisive battle against the Houthi terrorist militias.

He particularly praised the effective role of the Air Force and unmanned aircraft, as well as the precision operations they conduct in support of ground forces and to deter threats. He also commended their targeting of the militias’ military capabilities in accordance with established rules of engagement and professional and legal standards.

President Al-Alimi also commended the operations being carried out by the Armed Forces in Marib, Al-Jawf, Taiz, Al-Bayda, and Al-Dhalea, as well as on various other fronts. He said these operations are aimed at restoring state institutions, ending the coup by the Houthi terrorist militias, and fulfilling the Yemeni people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.

The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces stressed that the course of major national battles is not determined by a temporary change along one line of confrontation or by a gain here or there. Rather, it is determined by the strength of resolve, unity of purpose and decision-making, and the ability to learn from challenges and turn them into opportunities to build greater strength and cohesion and regain the initiative.

The President said the state’s compass would remain clear and firmly directed toward restoring its institutions and extending its sovereignty over the entire national territory. He stressed that temporary developments on the ground would neither alter this reality nor diminish the ability of the Yemeni people and their Armed Forces to accomplish this mission with resolve and determination.

He added that the Houthi militias had apparently failed to learn the lesson of their coup against national consensus and the will of the Yemeni people. They had believed that force and weapons could create a lasting reality by coercion, before the state and its national forces rose to drive their sectarian project out of Aden and other cities across the country.

President Al-Alimi commended the responsible role played by local authorities in the liberated governorates and their efforts, in cooperation with local communities, to receive and shelter families displaced from areas of fighting and provide them with essential needs to the extent possible.

He stressed that the solidarity and support shown by citizens toward their displaced fellow Yemenis reflect the deeply rooted values of the Yemeni people and the spirit of national solidarity and cohesion in confronting hardship and challenges.

The President directed the government and local authorities to continue strengthening these efforts and coordinate the response with humanitarian organizations and regional and international partners. He stressed the need to ensure dignified care and protection for displaced people and alleviate their suffering until they can safely return to their areas.

The PLC President stressed that a responsible state should not limit itself to managing a military battle. It must also fulfill its constitutional obligations to protect citizens, preserve security and stability, and ensure the continuity of state institutions and basic services.

He directed the government and local authorities to step up efforts to ensure the regular provision of services, pay state employees’ salaries, secure citizens’ basic needs, and strengthen the humanitarian response for displaced people and those affected by the Houthi escalation.

President Al-Alimi commended the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting and the measures it approved to strengthen the government’s response to current developments. He also praised the measures to support the Armed Forces and security forces, ensure the continuity of basic services, and strengthen the humanitarian response. He stressed the importance of urgently implementing those outcomes into tangible measures.

The President affirmed that the strength of the state at this stage lies in the integration of its military, security, political, economic, and service fronts and in the continued performance of its institutions despite the scale of the challenges.

He stressed that protecting citizens’ lives and livelihoods, alongside supporting the Armed Forces and regaining the initiative, is a national priority that cannot be delayed.

President Al-Alimi prayed for the souls of the martyrs of the Armed Forces, security forces, and all military formations. He also wished the wounded a speedy recovery and directed that care for the families of the martyrs continue, the best possible medical treatment and care be provided to the wounded, and their rights be upheld as a constitutional and moral duty.
