President Al-Alimi Praises Egypt’s Stance in Support of Yemeni People and Political Leadership

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ihab Abu Saree on the occasion of the completion of his tenure as his country’s ambassador to the Republic of Yemen.

During the meeting, the Egyptian ambassador conveyed to the President of the Presidential Leadership Council the greetings of his brother, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, along with his wishes for security, stability and peace for the Yemeni people.

President Al-Alimi, in turn, asked the ambassador to convey the president’s greetings to President El-Sisi and his wishes for continued health and happiness. He also wished the brotherly Egyptian people further progress and prosperity under president El-Sisi’s wise leadership.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the diplomatic efforts made by Ambassador Abu Saree to strengthen the historic fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries. He wished him success in his future professional assignments.

The President also expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s steadfast stance in support of the Yemeni people, as well as Egypt’s historic role in Yemen and the region. He commended President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the Egyptian leadership for their commitment to the security of the Red Sea and the stability of its littoral states.

The meeting also addressed the latest developments and the escalation by the Houthi terrorist militias on all fronts, with the involvement of personnel and expertise linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and allied groups, particularly along the western coast of Taiz Governorate.

President Al-Alimi discussed the objectives and motives behind the Houthi terrorist militias’ advance toward the western coast. He said the Iranian regime seeks to give its Houthi proxies the ability to exert influence over the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the Red Sea. This would allow pressure on Tehran to be implemented into costs for the region, global trade and international markets.

The President stressed that any attempt to alter the military situation near Bab al-Mandab cannot be treated as a purely Yemeni matter. The strait is a vital international maritime passage, and any threat to it would directly affect the Red Sea, the Suez Canal and global trade.

His Excellency considered that protecting Yemen’s coastline and restoring state control over its territory, ports and territorial waters constitute a shared Yemeni, Egyptian, Arab and international interest.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his confidence that the Arab Republic of Egypt would continue its leading role in supporting Yemen’s state institutions and in advancing, at the Arab and international levels, the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions. He also expressed confidence in Egypt’s continued efforts to prevent the flow of weapons, military technology and expertise to the terrorist militias.
