His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council received today, Sunday, Ms. Catherine Corm-Kammoun, the Ambassador of the French Republic to Yemen.

The meeting addressed national and regional developments, as well as the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries. It also discussed France’s appreciated interventions to support vital humanitarian and service sectors, reflecting its strong commitment to enhancing the presence of the government and its legitimate institutions.

The President praised the steadfast stance of the French Republic alongside the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He commended the recent French briefing before the United Nations Security Council, which held the Houthi terrorist militias responsible for any threats to maritime routes, and condemned their practices and human rights violations, particularly the arbitrary detention of relief and humanitarian workers.

President Al-Alimi also discussed the progress achieved in the comprehensive reform path led by the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, with generous support from the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These efforts include unifying military and security decision-making, strengthening governance and transparency, improving resource management, building state capacities, and mobilizing all efforts to restore national institutions.

He reiterated the risks of the Iranian regime’s continued investment in the Houthi terrorist militias as part of its destabilizing project aimed at undermining regional security and stability, and turning Yemen into a platform threatening international navigation and global supply chains. He stressed the importance of keeping this dimension central to the international community’s approach to the Yemeni situation.

The President further praised the active French role in supporting the sovereignty of national states in the region. He emphasized that achieving this path in Yemen requires the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions, foremost among them UN Security Council Resolution 2216, which calls for the disarmament of militias and preventing them from usurping the state’s exclusive authority.

He also underscored the need to enhance coordination with the international community to move from crisis management to ending the threat. He called for tightening sanctions on networks financing and arming the Houthi militias. He further stressed the importance of supporting ongoing government efforts to build a successful model in the liberated governorates and extend state control over the entire national territory.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
