Governors of Lahj, Abyan, and Al-Dhalea Take Constitutional Oath Before President
Riyadh
The newly appointed governors of Lahj, Murad Al-Halmi; Abyan, Dr. Mukhtar Al-Rubash, and Al-Dhalea, Major General Ahmed Al-Qubba, took the constitutional oath today, Saturday, before His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
Following the oath-taking ceremony, His Excellency the President met separately with the new governors and briefed them on the priorities of the current phase. He also outlined the efforts required to strengthen the presence of state institutions, improve essential services for citizens, and consolidate security and stability in their respective governorates.
President Al-Alimi emphasized the distinguished position of the three governorates in the national equation and in the battle to restore state institutions, given their pivotal roles in protecting the internal front, securing the frontlines with the Houthi terrorist militias, and safeguarding the interim capital Aden. He also highlighted their vital role in combating smuggling and terrorism and in reinforcing stability in the liberated governorates.
His Excellency stressed the importance of working in a team spirit with the government and central authorities to ensure the implementation of the economic and service reform program, improve the performance of administrative bodies, strengthen transparency, and combat corruption. He also underscored the need to prioritize the development of infrastructure and essential services, particularly in electricity, water, roads, health, and education.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council further stressed the necessity of unifying security and military decision-making in Lahj, Abyan, and Al-Dhalea, and enhancing coordination with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to ensure security and stability, combat smuggling and illegal migration, and firmly address illegal land seizures. He also called for the removal of unlawful checkpoints and illegal levies that undermine state authority and hinder the free movement of citizens and commercial goods.
President Al-Alimi urged the governors to pay close attention to humanitarian and development files, empower youth and local competencies, and activate productive sectors—particularly agriculture and fisheries. He also called for encouraging local investment and creating an attractive environment for capital in order to generate employment opportunities and stimulate the local economy.
He renewed his emphasis on the importance of close partnership with brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and benefiting from the support programs and development projects provided to the liberated governorates, in a way that enhances economic recovery and improves essential services for citizens.
The President affirmed that success in managing these governorates will have a direct impact on the stability of the state and on strengthening citizens’ confidence in its institutions. He stressed the need for local authority leaderships to develop clear visions and action programs, including defining priorities for the first 100 days, in order to meet citizens’ aspirations and reinforce the presence of the state across all districts.
The meetings were attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Presidency Office.
