President of the Leadership Council Leaves Aden for Consultations on National Developments

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, left the interim capital Aden today, Friday, heading to the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He will hold consultations with regional and international stakeholders regarding the latest domestic developments, foremost among them the recent events in the eastern governorates.

The President reaffirmed, in a statement to the Yemen News Agency (Saba), the Council’s and the government’s commitment to the principles of national partnership and collective responsibility in completing the tasks of the transitional phase in accordance with the agreed-upon references, particularly the Power Transfer Declaration and the Riyadh Agreement.

He also underscored the state’s exclusive responsibility for protecting its national institutions, safeguarding the interests of citizens, preserving the unity of sovereign decision-making. He rejected any unilateral measures that would usurp the exclusive authorities of the government and local administrations, undermine security and stability, exacerbate humanitarian suffering, or compromise prospects for economic recovery and the growing confidence of the international community.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stated that the battle to restore state institutions, end the coup of the terrorist Houthi militia, and implement economic reforms will remain at the forefront of national priorities. He warned that any distraction by side conflicts serves only the Iranian project and its destructive proxies, while increasing the suffering of the Yemeni people.

His Excellency praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which led to the recent de-escalation agreement in Hadhramaut Governorate. He stressed the importance of full adherence to the terms of the agreement, building on these commendable efforts, and prioritizing the interests of Hadhramaut and its people as a cornerstone of stability in Yemen and the region.

He also renewed his full support for the local authority’s leadership, tribal figures, and community dignitaries engaged in mediation efforts aimed at accelerating the restoration of the situation to its previous state. He emphasized that these efforts are essential to enabling the people of Hadhramaut to manage their local affairs, in fulfillment of the Leadership Council’s commitments and its plan to normalize conditions in the governorate.

In this context, His Excellency directed the leadership of the local authority in Hadhramaut and the relevant government agencies to form a committee to investigate violations of human rights and international humanitarian law, as well as damages suffered by citizens and public and private property—particularly in the districts of Wadi and Desert Hadhramaut. He also instructed them to take the necessary measures to provide reparations and ensure that perpetrators do not escape accountability.

The President further called on all national components to put aside their differences and act with the highest sense of responsibility. He urged them to maintain solidarity in the face of prevailing challenges and support the government in fulfilling its essential obligations, placing the interests and dignity of the citizens above all other considerations.
