Riyadh
The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council, with the participation of members Sultan Al-Aradah, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and Faraj Al-Bahsani. Members Tariq Saleh and Othman Mujalli joined via video conference, while member Aidarous Al-Zubaidi was absent with excuse.
The meeting, attended by Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Breik, was dedicated to discussing recent security developments and the situation of the intelligence agencies involved in efforts to combat terrorism, its financing, and organized crime.
During the meeting, the Presidential Leadership Council commended the qualitative achievements made by the Armed Forces, security institutions, and all military formations in combating terrorism and pursuing criminal cells collaborating with the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime. The Council reaffirmed the State’s firm commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and to working closely with regional and international partners to build the capacities of the relevant security agencies.
In this context, the Council welcomed the successes achieved by the Combined Task Forces led by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces, as well as the results of recent international operations that thwarted attempts to smuggle large quantities of drugs and weapons. These efforts fall within the framework of regional and international initiatives to safeguard the security of the Red Sea, protect global shipping routes, and deter destabilizing activities linked to Iranian networks and their proxies in the region.
The Council affirmed that the security of the Red Sea is a cornerstone of regional and international stability, stressing that the practices of the terrorist Houthi militias—from smuggling weapons and drugs to targeting commercial vessels—pose a direct threat to maritime safety and the economic interests of the peoples of the region and the world. This, the Council noted, requires closer national and international coordination at all levels.
The Council reviewed a report from the Committee for the Integration of Security and Intelligence Agencies within the Central Apparatus for State Security, established under Presidential Leadership Council Decision No. (5) of 2024. It expressed its support for the executive plans aimed at completing the integration process, unifying efforts in information collection and analysis, and enhancing the effectiveness of security operations to ensure the development of a professional national apparatus.
The Presidential Leadership Council underscored the importance of adopting a unifying national discourse that honors the sacrifices of the heroes of the Armed Forces and security services. It emphasized the need to strengthen national cohesion and mobilize all patriotic forces to confront projects of terrorism and destruction. The Council also affirmed its support for ongoing development and reform efforts aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability, and peace.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office
