His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed that justice in the case of the martyr Aftihan Al-Mashhari, and all other grievances in Taiz Governorate, is proceeding as an institutional and comprehensive path, not a political tool. He stressed that the state will not compromise the blood of victims under any circumstances.

During a meeting on Monday at Al-Ma’ashiq Palace with Mr. Abdul-Salam Razzaz, the Chairman of the Reconciliation and Social Peace Committee in Taiz, and members of the committee, President Al-Alimi said the state leadership has followed the case of martyr Aftihan Al-Mashhari from the very beginning with full responsibility. He noted that the local authorities and relevant agencies have acted to uphold the law and human dignity through direct supervision of the security operation, arresting the perpetrators, referring them to justice. In preparation for holding accountable anyone proven to have colluded or been negligent, and ensuring that such crimes are not repeated.

The President reaffirmed that the state leadership continues to closely follow the cases of martyrs Al-Mashhari and Al-Sufi to ensure justice and to address similar cases firmly, based on national responsibility and moral duty.

He emphasized that Taiz today represents more than a security issue—it is a state-building project. Its people, he said, deserve to see their governorate presented as a model of productivity and civic initiative, not chaos and division. The state’s actions, he added, are part of a broader plan to restore Taiz’s rightful place within the framework of national recovery.

“The real test lies in delivering justice, not in showing off, ” President Al-Alimi said. “The blood of Aftihan and all victims is a trust upon us all until full justice is achieved. We will continue on this path to strengthen public confidence in the state and its institutions.”

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Presidential Leadership Council and the government to elevate Taiz to its rightful status. This will be achieved by supporting its security, development, and service plans, and by turning the lessons of past crises into opportunities to rebuild state institutions on the foundations of justice and equal citizenship.

President Al-Alimi urged the Reconciliation and Social Peace Committee to continue its valuable efforts.

He called on the committee to hold listening sessions with victims’ families and to coordinate with security and judicial authorities. He also encouraged it to contribute to community oversight of plans to remove armed presence from public and private facilities.

He stressed that the state expects reconciliation bodies and civil society organizations not merely to issue statements but to build a new path of trust between citizens and institutions, and among local communities themselves. This, he said, is essential to fairness, national cohesion, and a more just and dignified future.

The President praised the sacrifices of Taiz’s people in defending the republican system and their leading role in restoring state institutions and building peace. He reaffirmed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to honor those sacrifices.

He also pledged to support all efforts that strengthen the governorate’s standing and fulfill its people’s aspirations for security, stability, and development.

The President was briefed by the Taiz Reconciliation and Social Peace Committee on its recent activities and future plans.

The briefing included comprehensive approaches to addressing the governorate’s challenges and promoting national efforts toward stability and citizen welfare.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
