President Al-Alimi Receives Credentials of Newly Appointed Ambassadors
Aden
His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Thursday, at Al-Ma’ashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, the credentials of several ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries. He received the credentials of ambassadors of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Ihab Ahmed Abu Sreea; the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Thomas Friedrich; the European Union, H.E. Patrick Simonnet; the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, H.E. Mohamed Al-Amin Ibrahim; and the Federative Republic of Brazil, H.E. Paulo Ochoa Filho.
Following the credentials ceremony, the President held separate meetings with the newly accredited ambassadors, who conveyed the greetings of their leaders and their best wishes for his good health and happiness, and for the Yemeni people’s security, stability, and peace.
President Al-Alimi welcomed the ambassadors accredited to the Republic of Yemen. He affirmed the Council’s and Government’s commitment to providing all necessary support to enable them to carry out their duties and strengthen bilateral relations and shared interests with their respective countries.
His Excellency praised the strong relations between Yemen and the countries of the new ambassadors and expressed appreciation for their principled positions in support of constitutional legitimacy. He noted that the growing number of diplomatic accreditations reflects the international community’s confidence in the government’s efforts to consolidate security and stabilize state institutions and strengthen legal status of the state in the interim capital, Aden. This, he added, further isolates the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.
The President briefed the ambassadors on national developments and on the efforts of the Government and the Central Bank to advance economic, administrative, financial, and monetary reforms. He noted that these efforts aim to improve living and service conditions despite the complex challenges imposed by the Houthi war.
His Excellency also touched on regional developments, particularly the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. He commended the sincere efforts led by the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, and other brotherly and friendly countries in achieving this historic milestone. He expressed hope that the agreement would alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people and help realize their legitimate aspirations to establish an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President Al-Alimi affirmed that lasting peace in the region remains contingent on ending terrorism and expansionist projects that threaten regional and global security. He called on the international community to join the decision designating the Houthi militias as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and to form an international coalition to confront their terrorism, human rights violations, and cross-border threats.
The President expressed deep appreciation for the steadfast support of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, for the Yemeni people and their political leadership. He also commended the recent Saudi support aimed at strengthening the national currency and enabling the government to meet its essential obligations to citizens.
His Excellency stressed the importance of maintaining international unity regarding the Yemeni situation. He reaffirmed the Council’s and Government’s commitment to close partnership with brotherly and friendly nations to achieve comprehensive peace in accordance with national, regional, and international references, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2216. He emphasized that these efforts aim to place Yemen on the path of stability, development, and prosperity.
The ceremony and meetings were attended by Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Presidential Office, and Mr. Mohammed Haj Mahfouz, Head of Presidential Protocols and Ceremonies.
