President’s Address on the 63rd Anniversary of the 26 September Revolution
Aden
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
To the great Yemeni people,
To the heroes of our armed and security forces in all fields of honor and pride,
On this very day, sixty-three years ago, the heroes of Yemen made history. On the glorious 26th of September 1962, the Republic was born, and the sun of freedom rose after the long night of tyranny, servitude, oppression, and illiteracy.
On that day, our people chose to be masters of their own destiny. The Republic emerged, removing class barriers, reviving the dream of a state of citizenship passed down through generations—the Republic synonymous with freedom, education, healthcare, and a dignified life.
Dear people,
Free resistance fighters,
Today, the new Imamate seeks to turn back the wheel of history to the darkness of its bygone era. Yet, resistance has prevailed in every city and village, shattering their regressive dreams across the land, and declaring with one voice: There will be no return to clerical rule or the false myth of divine guardianship, in a nation whose people have sworn by freedom, dignity, and sovereignty belonging to the people alone.
After eleven years of the bloody coup marked by killings and grave violations, the images of legendary resilience stand tall, heralding imminent victory, salvation, and the restoration of the Republic and the sovereignty of the state. A generation born under the Republic has no choice but to grow up under its promise, destined to triumph with the spirit of September and the legacy of its free revolutionaries.
As we have repeatedly affirmed, this war—ignited by the terrorist Houthi militia with the support of Iran’s regime—is a doomed one, for it is a battle between truth and falsehood, between freedom and servitude, between the Republic and the Imamate, between the past and a bright future.
Great Yemeni People,
In this blessed month, the Presidential Leadership Council has renewed its commitment to teamwork, collective responsibility, and national partnership as guarantees for resilience against the new Imamate and for a decisive victory, God willing.
We take seriously your voices and rightful demands for meaningful change and for creating a model in the liberated governorates. The Council made tangible progress in its first year: the national currency recovered, the state budget achieved a surplus for the first time, and salaries for state employees were regularized. However, the Houthi militia soon launched terrorist attacks on oil facilities and commercial shipping, militarized the Red Sea, and brought further devastation.
Despite their grave human rights violations and attempts to plunge the country into a comprehensive humanitarian crisis, my colleagues in the Leadership Council, the government, and I responded by confronting this threat. We turned it into an opportunity for self-reliance and genuine reforms, while strengthening confidence with our brothers and friends. At the same time, we worked to reinforce Yemen’s legal standing as a member state of the United Nations.
We are equally confident in the responsibility of the press and media. They have not been a target for any violations in this time. Instead, they remain a platform for unity, solidarity, and guardians for the values of September and October and the legitimate aspirations of our people—never a voice for division or incitement.
My fellow citizens,
We recognize the hardships faced by every Yemeni family. We know that citizens wish to see the Republic not just in slogans, but in regular salaries, stable electricity, and accessible education and healthcare.
Together with the government, we have embarked on difficult reforms, including combating corruption, restoring discipline in state institutions, and enhancing the independence of the Central Bank. This road will not be easy, but we are determined that the people will see tangible improvements in daily life. For the battle to restore the economy and national resources is no less important than the battle on the frontlines.
On this immortal day, we extend our deep gratitude to the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. We extend our appreciation to all our brothers who have stood with us in defense of the Republic and our national and Arab identity.
We highly value, in this regard, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s new economic and development support, which strengthens the course of reforms and the economic recovery plan. It also ensures the continued operation of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital, which provides free medical services annually to hundreds of thousands of citizens across the country.
Amid our national struggle, we do not forget Palestine, which remains our cause and that of every Arab. We condemn Israeli crimes and affirm our support for the Palestinian people’s right to an independent, fully sovereign state. Yemen, as it fights a sectarian and racist project at home, understands better than most what it means for a people to be denied their right to freedom and a dignified life.
To the heroes on the frontlines of honor and dignity,
You have been the rock upon which the Imamate’s illusions were shattered, and the shield that has protected Yemen and its Arab identity.
We pledge that your blood and sacrifices will never be in vain, and that the state will remain your steadfast supporter, and that of the families of martyrs and the wounded, until victory is achieved and our institutions reclaim full sovereignty over all national territory. For the Republic is not just a memory—it is a beating heart in every chest, and a sacred covenant upon every conscience.
Glory and immortality to the martyrs,
Healing to the wounded,
Freedom to the prisoners,
Long live September.
Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.
