President Al-Alimi Meets with Chair of Consultation and Reconciliation Commission and Its Political Components
Aden
His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting on Sunday with Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, the Chairman of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission, along with his deputies Mr. Abdulmalik Al-Mikhlafi, Mr. Sakhr Al-Wajeeh, Ms. Jamila Ali Raja, and Mr. Akram Al-Amiri, as well as the general secretaries of political parties and components within the Commission. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Hussam Al-Sharjabi, the Head of the Economic Team.
The meeting focused on discussing the latest domestic developments, regional and international changes, and the course of financial and administrative reforms. It also covered efforts being made to meet the state’s pressing obligations—chiefly, the continued payment of employee salaries, the flow of essential goods and imports, service improvements, and the mitigation of the worsening humanitarian crisis, exacerbated by terrorist Houthi militia attacks—backed by the Iranian regime—on oil facilities and commercial shipping vessels.
During the meeting, President Al-Alimi briefed the leadership of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission and party secretaries on the comprehensive local and regional developments, including the potential repercussions of regional military escalations on Yemen’s security, economy, and humanitarian conditions.
The President emphasized that economic and service-related issues remain the top challenges and priorities for both the Presidential Leadership Council and the government.
His Excellency presented the outcomes of his recent meetings and consultations with the government, the Central Bank, the Crisis Management Committee, and relevant bodies to share perspectives and coordinated policies aimed at regaining control over the public budget deficit and strengthening the national currency.
The President also highlighted significant security achievements, including the dismantling of terrorist cells linked to the Houthi militias and affiliated groups, and the foiling of their sabotage plans in various liberated governorates.
He praised the efforts and high readiness of the armed forces and all military formations to deter Houthi militia aggressions and continue advancing toward comprehensive national liberation.
President Al-Alimi stressed the importance of unifying all efforts and resolving disputes among national forces to confront existing challenges, share responsibilities, and jointly address citizen priorities—toward restoring state institutions, achieving security, stability, and development.
He reaffirmed the vital role of the Consultation and Reconciliation Commission and political parties in supporting the Presidential Leadership Council, in line with the power transfer declaration, and in promoting values of partnership, in addition to their oversight role in ensuring the executive authority responds to citizens’ needs across governorates.
The President renewed the Council’s and the government’s commitment to ensuring regular salary payments and sustainable essential services, particularly electricity and energy. He acknowledged the crucial economic, developmental, and humanitarian support provided by the coalition partners—especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates—which has been instrumental in enabling the state to fulfill its obligations in recent years.
Regionally and internationally, the President reiterated Yemen’s clear stance on dangerous regional escalations, aligning with the cause of the Yemeni people and their aspirations to restore state institutions and overturn the Houthi militia coup backed by Iran.
The meeting included a briefing by the head of the economic team on the latest economic, financial, and monetary indicators, including the deteriorating status of the national currency due to the continued suspension of oil exports and the rising cost of maritime shipping—with their catastrophic impacts on living conditions. He also outlined measures taken and proposed to contain the destructive economic consequences of the Houthis’ actions.
Additionally, the meeting listened to observations from the Consultation Commission’s leadership and political components regarding national issues and local and regional developments. They expressed their full support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government, underscoring the need to move forward with comprehensive reform programs, anti-corruption efforts, and ongoing consultations with all forces based on broad national partnership.
The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the President’s Office.
