His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting today, Wednesday, at Al-Maashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, with the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee, in the presence of Prime Minister Salem Saleh bin Breik, the Chairman of the Committee.

The meeting included Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Maabqi, Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen, Dr. Shaya’ Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate, Dr. Abdul Salam Hameed, Minister of Transport, Dr. Saeed Al-Shamasi, Minister of Oil and Minerals, Hossam Al-Sharjabi, Head of the Economic Team, Hani Wahab, Deputy Minister of Finance, and Captain Nasser Mahmoud, Chairman of the Board of Yemen Airways.

During the meeting, they addressed the latest developments in the political, economic, service, and humanitarian situations. Additionally, they discussed regional developments in light of the Israeli-Iranian military escalation and its repercussions on Yemeni and regional security, as well as living conditions in the country.

The Prime Minister and committee members briefed the meeting on the current economic situation, key financial and monetary indicators, fluctuations in the national currency exchange rate, and supply shortages of essential goods and services—particularly electricity and cooking gas. Dscussions also covered the progress of government reforms and necessary measures to enhance the state’s access to its resources, intensifying interventions aimed at mitigating the worsening humanitarian crisis exacerbated by attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping vessels by the Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia.

The meeting reviewed progress reports from the Crisis Management Committee, assessing the implementation level of decisions made by various state authorities. It also examined proposed alternatives to strengthen the government’s efforts in fulfilling its critical obligations—particularly the continued payment of employee salaries, the uninterrupted flow of essential goods and imports, and urgent responses to all commitments. Discussions further addressed current challenges and their anticipated future implications.

The meeting highly appreciated the honorable fraternal stances of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in solidarity with the Yemeni people and their political leadership. The Council acknowledged the Coalition’s continued responsiveness to the challenges and priorities of the Yemeni government at various levels.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed an assessment of developments in the Israeli-Iranian conflict and its potential repercussions on regional and international peace and security, as well as its implications on the security, economic, and humanitarian conditions in Yemen.

The meeting issued a warning to the Houthi terrorist militia regarding the dangers of continuing to drag Yemen and its people into destructive regional conflicts, holding the group and its backers fully responsible for the serious consequences of any further reckless actions originating from Yemeni territory. Such actions, the statement warned, would only worsen the crisis, including further militarization of maritime corridors, threats to food security, depletion of remaining livelihood opportunities, and deepening the already severe humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the President’s Office, and Ambassador Mujib Othman, Advisor to the Prime Minister.
