President al-Alimi urges International Community's pressure to stop Houthi militia's violations

 His Excellency Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council received Monday the  Ambassador of the United States of America, Steven H. Fagin.

The US diplomat briefed President al-Alimi on the local and regional communications regarding Yemen's truce and efforts of brothers and friends to revive political process and alleviate suffering of Yemeni people caused by the Iran- backed Houthi terrorist militia's stubbornness.

President al-Alimi renewed commitment of the Presidential Council and the government to the choice of the inclusive and just peace based on the three agreed upon references; the GCC Initiative, its executive mechanism,the Outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference and Security Council Resolution 2216.

The President praised efforts of the US ambassador and envoy besides efforts of Saudi Arabia and the UN for renewing the truce and resuming the political process, as well as mobilizing necessary support to the Presidential Leadership Council and the Government to face all challenges.

President al-Alimi stressed that supporting government economic and service reforms is the ideal way to enhance peace chances, alleviating suffering and realizing aspirations of Yemeni people in restoring state institutions, security, stability and development.

The President praised in this regard the role played by The Saudi and UAE-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, in foiling the plans of the Houthi militias and their supporters aimed at plunging the country into a comprehensive humanitarian crisis.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the US ambassador on the developments of the local situation and the military escalation of the militias on various fronts, which threatens to undermine the prospects of the desired peace.

He urged the international community to exert more pressure on Houthi militia to surrender to demands of providing salaries in the areas under the militia's control and ending major violations to human rights, including its siege on the people of Jawf Governorate and restrictions imposed by the militia on the private sector and public freedoms, the recent ones are the aggressive procedures on girls enrolled in academic education as an additional aggressive move to threaten social peace, coexistence values, and tolerance that Yemenis have lived over the years.

For his part, the US diplomat praised the security situation in the interim capital of Aden he visited recently and praised quick presidential and governmental response to avoid the repercussions of the terrorist attack, which killed Coordinator of World Food Program in Taiz, Muayad Hamidi. He also praised the successful military operation, which led to swift arrest of the perpetrators and a number of suspected individuals in criminal acts.

The meeting was attended by Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya 

Al-Shuaibi.

The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Council.
