President Al-Alimi meets with Crisis Committee to discuss economic situation and requirements for implementing terrorism designation decision

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, held a meeting today, Wednesday with the Crisis Management Committee for economic and humanitarian affairs. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak and focused on recent economic, monetary, and banking developments, as well as measures taken in response to the U.S. executive order designating the Houthi militia as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.

President Al-Alimi received briefings from Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ghalib Al-Ma’abqi, Central Bank Governor, Dr. Shai’a Al-Zandani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Mr. Hossam Al-Sharjabi, the head of the economic team. The briefings covered the latest economic and living conditions and the government’s ongoing efforts to meet its essential obligations, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.

The discussion included current financial and monetary indicators, the efficiency of institutions in improving state revenue collection, and ensuring the sustainability of essential services across various governorates.

The meeting also focused on government measures taken to address the designation of the Houthi militia as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, including exemptions and licenses issued to ensure the continued flow of humanitarian aid and mitigate potential humanitarian consequences following the enforcement of the decision on Tuesday.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the international community to minimize the impact of the designation on citizens, institutions, and national entities, particularly the banking sector.
