President Al-Alimi discusses bilateral relations and common challenges with Syrian President

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, along with Major General Sultan Al-Aradah, the Council Member, met today, Tuesday, with His Excellency Ahmad Al-Shara’a, President of the brotherly Arab Republic of Syria. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the extraordinary Arab Summit being held in Cairo, Egypt.

During the meeting, the two presidents exchanged congratulations and best wishes on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, praying to Almighty Allah to restore this significant religious occasion to both brotherly countries and all Arab and Islamic nations with goodness, prosperity, and blessings.

The discussion addressed the latest developments in both countries, bilateral relations, and the prospects for enhancing and developing these relations at all levels. It also explored ways to coordinate positions on issues and regional developments of mutual interest.

President Al-Alimi highlighted the historic transformations taking place in Syria and the determination of its people to build their state and shape a bright future. He expressed his hope for joint efforts to advance the distinguished bilateral relations toward broader horizons in various fields, including enhancing diplomatic representation between the two brotherly countries.

His Excellency reaffirmed the Republic of Yemen's support for the unity of Syrian territory, its sovereignty, and the will and aspirations of its people for peace, security, and stability.

For his part, President Al-Shara’a praised the historical relations between the two countries and emphasized the importance of close coordination in addressing common challenges.

He expressed his appreciation for the support of Yemen's leadership, government, and people for the Syrian people, and extended his wishes for the Yemeni people to achieve their aspirations in restoring their state institutions, security, and stability.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Shaia’a Al-Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Khaled Mahfouz Bahah, Yemen’s Ambassador to Egypt, and Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council. 

On the Syrian side, attendees included Mr. Asaad Al-Shaibani, Syria's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and Mr. Hossam Eddin Ala, Syria's Permanent Representative to the Arab League.
