Presidential Leadership Council Announces a Plan to Normalize Situation in Hadhramout

Today, Tuesday, the Presidential Leadership Council announced a plan to normalize the situation in Hadhramout Governorate, responding to the legitimate demands of the Hadrami people and their political and community components. This plan aims to strengthen Hadramout's pivotal position in the national equation and enhance its active presence in local and central decision-making.
In a statement, the Presidential Leadership Council called upon the people of Hadramout Governorate and its political and social components to keep away their region from any tensions or internal disputes. Additionally, the Council stressed the importance of preserving the security and stability of Hadramout, focusing on its development, alleviating the suffering of its people, and enhancing its historical status as a model of peace, state presence, and the rule of law.
The statement reads as follows:
Based on the outcomes of the Presidential Leadership Council sessions held on November 22 and December 24, 2024, regarding the exceptional circumstances in Hadhramout Governorate, and in response to the legitimate demands of Hadramout’s people and its established role in the national equation.
In accordance with the entitlements announced by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi during his recent visit to Hadhramout Governorate with some members of the Council, as well as the recommendations of the committee formed from its members and its executive framework, the Presidential Leadership Council approved a set of executive measures to normalize the situation in the governorate, including the following:
- Allocating the revenues from the sale of crude oil stored in the Dabba and Masila tanks to establish two new power plants in the coastal and valley regions of Hadhramout.
- Supporting efforts aimed at unifying and mobilizing the people of Hadhramout and all their components while enhancing their fair partnership in state structures and any forthcoming political entitlements, in alignment with Hadhramout’s status and entitlements at various levels.
- Integrating the people of Hadhramout into the armed forces and security services in accordance with the law and established recruitment standards.
- Establishing a general hospital in Al-Hadba (Ghayl Bin Yameen) using revenues from diesel stored at PetroMasila, while addressing the corruption allegations attributed to the Masila Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (PetroMasila).
- Managing all local and central revenues for the purpose of developing and rebuilding the governorate in accordance with a joint development plan with the government and the regional and international donor community.
These measures require the local authorities and all Hadrami components to welcome the agreed-upon decisions and put an end to protest activities, paving the way for comprehensive reforms that restore Hadhramout’s natural status as a driver of development, stability, and peac.

Moreover, the Council acknowledged their sincere commitment to supporting the Presidential Leadership Council, the government, alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, and fulfilling their aspirations to restore state institutions, security, stability, peace, and development.
