The President of the Presidential Leadership Council confirms the Saudi prominent role on the paths of development and peace
Aden
His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed the pivotal and leading role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the coalition to support legitimacy, including its good faith to establish peace and stability in Yemen.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council said that the role of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has become a testament to the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries, leading to the generous relief interventions through the King Salman Center and the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), as well as their sincere endeavors as mediators to ceasefire and establish comprehensive and sustainable peace in Yemen.
In a televised interview with Al-Arabiya and Al-Hadath channels, His Excellency said that the inauguration and launching of the Saudi projects package in Yemen carried many connotations, and a strong message to the Houthi terrorist militia that the Yemeni people "want peace, and do not want more drones, violence and mines, but need health, services and look forward to Life, instead of death."
He added, "The main indication of the inauguration and launching of these projects in conjunction with the peace efforts is also a message to the Iranian regime that supports the Houthi militias, that the Saudi-led coalition supports us with health, roads, and all fields, whether relief or development. Actually this is an important message that the Yemeni people must pick up first, whether in the liberated areas or those under the control of the militias. At the sane time, it is also a strong message to Al-Houthi and his supporters that we want life and we want more projects, development and peace."
Regarding setting priorities for the projects of the Saudi program, His Excellency the President explained that: the program’s establishment was based on an agreement with the Yemeni government, and that there is direct coordination in several directions, the most important of which is defining the priorities and needs of the regions.
In this context, His Excellency pointed out to the Aden General Hospital, which will provide services to about half a million beneficiaries annually, saying that this will create a quantum leap for the health sector, in light of the war that the Houthi militia launched and caused all this destruction in the infrastructure, including the health one.
He explained that these priorities are determined by the government in coordination with the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, "and I believe that this coordination and integration between the government and the program is what led to these fruitful results that we reached in implementing these projects."
With regard to the liberated governorates, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council indicated that coordination with the brothers in the Kingdom takes place through local authorities, which the Council intends to grant full powers through governors and executive offices in the governorates to play their role at the local level and support central institutions.
Regarding the importance of these projects in meeting the needs of the Yemeni citizen, President Al-Alimi pointed out that the program transferred Saudi support to the Yemenis from the stage of relief to the stage of sustainable development, explaining that the direct and indirect effects of these projects continue and are felt by citizens in the liberated areas.
His Excellency the President touched on the economic reforms program being implemented by the government and the Central Bank of Yemen in coordination with the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy, especially Saudi Arabia and the UAE, supervised by the Arab Monetary Fund. Furthermore, he revealed the Council's tendency to work out an administrative reform program to end the state of weakness in the performance of institutions, whether at the central or local level as a result of multiple circumstances.
His Excellency the President noted the importance of the economic support provided by the brothers in stopping the deterioration of the local currency, its impact on the citizens' lives, and improving the supply of basic services.
He pointed out to the UAE's efforts to generate 120 megabytes of solar energy, in conjunction with a project being implemented by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), which is to rehabilitate the high and low pressure network to solve the problem of network deterioration and address the loss of up to 40 percent.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council appreciated the Saudi efforts as a mediator to ceasefire and establish peace, which the Council and the government declared their blessing and support to reach a comprehensive political solution based on the terms of reference for a comprehensive solution agreed upon locally, regionally and internationally, which is the demand of the Yemeni people and the regional and international community.
He continued: We are with these efforts and we support them from the very beginning, not only today. But the militias have always rejected the peace process and are still threatening to return to war, mobilizing their fighters on the fronts and establishing summer centers to attract recruits.
He added, "We, as we have always said, are advocates of peace, but at the end of the day, if war is imposed on us, the Yemeni people everywhere will be forced to defend their interests and legitimate rights."
