Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council inaugurates Aden General Hospital

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, inaugurated today, Wednesday, the Aden General Hospital, the heart center, and health clinics attached to the medical complex, which will provide free services to more than 500,000 beneficiaries annually in the interim capital, Aden, and other governorates.

His Excellency the President was received at the project headquarters by the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Qassem Buhaibeh, the Secretary-General of Aden Governorate, Badr Muawan, the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, the General Supervisor of the Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY, Mohammed Saeed Al Jaber, the director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al-Jafri, and a number of officials. The President of the Presidential Leadership Council, accompanied by Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber, toured the heart center and a number of hospital departments, listening to a brief explanation from the specialized medical staff about the type and number of cases received by the hospital during the past months.

His Excellency and his entourage also visited a number of patients in the pediatric department, and was assured of their health conditions by the concerned doctors. During his visit to the medical complex, His Excellency the President made a statement to the media, expressing his happiness at launching this vital medical facility for Aden’  residents and other governorates, saying that it represents a new evidence to the strength, specialty of the Yemeni-Saudi relations, the commitment of our Saudi brothers towards the Yemeni people in these exceptional circumstances, and the humanitarian crisis caused by the Houthi militia backed by the Iranian regime.

He added: We are confident that such promising projects will represent a quantum leap for the service sectors in the interim capital, Aden, and other governorates, as is the case with Aden General Hospital, which will provide free services to about 500,000 beneficiaries annually. His Excellency expressed his great thanks and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his Crown Prince, Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and to the Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), which worked on the completion of these vital projects under the permanent supervision of His Highness the Ambassador Mohammed Al Jaber.

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council pointed out to the development and humanitarian interventions that the Saudi brothers are working on, starting from the medical and educational cities in Al-Mahra, Taiz, Hadramout, and other governorates, to the promising projects in the field of energy and water desalination. Before that the financing and oil grants that have become part of our main resources to keep millions of population alive.

In addition to the heart center, the hospital includes emergency departments, internal medicine, urinary tract, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, x-rays, MRI devices, medical labs., a blood bank, general and specialized clinic, operation rooms and other departments equipped with the latest medical supplies.

The hospital is of great importance in supporting the capabilities of the health sector in the governorate of Aden and its neighboring. As its experimental operation witnessed the registration of 86,860 beneficiaries, the total number of beneficiaries in the laboratory department reached 92,054, while the total number of beneficiaries in the radiology department reached 23,054, as well as 436 cardiac catheterization operations, 56 open-heart operations, while the total number of inpatients in the heart center was 516 until the end of last April. The project of equipping and rehabilitating Aden General Hospital comes to contribute to improving the performance of the health sector and raising the quality of services provided in Aden Governorate and its neighboring. 

The project also contributes to the promotion of good health, well-being and the improvement of medical services, in addition to increasing their access to treatment for all ages, and genders.

The area of Aden General Hospital is 20,000 square meters, and it was equipped with 2,187 medical devices and equipment, with a bed capacity of 270 beds.  The project provided all central air-conditioning devices for the hospital, in addition to the main and subsidiary electronic panels, etc., and the supply and installation of a harmful waste incinerator.  The project of Aden General Hospital's rehabilitation contributed to the provision of electrical power through 5 transformers (3 main and 2 additional) with a capacity of 1600 kVA, and transformers with a capacity of (11/0.4/0.23) volts 500 Hz, in addition to providing an emergency generator with a capacity of 1000 kVA., and 5 generators with a synchronous panel system.
