Presidential Leadership Council Discusses Economic Situations and Regional Developments

The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Saturday, chaired by His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council. The meeting was attended by Council members Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, Sultan Al-Arada, Tariq Saleh, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, Othman Mujali, and Faraj Al-Bahssani, while Council Member Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami was absent due to a valid excuse.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing developments in the economic, living, and service related conditions, particularly changes related to fluctuations in exchange rates, essential goods prices, and commercial shipping. Additionally, the meeting addressed the humanitarian repercussions of these changes, which have been exacerbated by the attacks of the Houthi militias, proxies of the Iranian regime, on oil facilities and international shipping lanes.
The council also addressed various local issues and entitlements, including the situation in Hadhramaut Governorate, and took necessary actions and decisions accordingly.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Presidential Leadership Council listened to a briefing from President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi regarding the outcomes of his recent meetings with regional and international stakeholders. He also provided an update on his recent meetings in the interim capital, Aden, chaired by the government, the Economic and Humanitarian Crisis Management Committee, the High Security Committee, the commercial chambers, the business community, and other relevant authorities. The aim of these meetings was to share plans, policies, and visions focused on strengthening the national currency, implementing comprehensive reforms, and ensuring essential services and goods.
The Council was briefed by some of its members on several issues and tasks assigned to them, in addition to government reports on economic and monetary developments and their expected indicators at various levels.
The council reiterated the state’s commitment to fully hold the responsibility of alleviating the difficult living conditions, with a firm commitment to strengthening national unity and focusing on the decisive battle to restore state institutions and end the Houthi militia’s coup, backed by the Iranian regime.
The Presidential Leadership Council reiterated its support for the path of coordinated economic and service reforms with regional and international partners. In this context, the Council highlighted the role of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in supporting state’s efforts to meet its essential obligations, in the forefront paying employees salaries and providing essential goods and services.
During its meeting, the Presidential Leadership Council discussed regional and international developments related to the serious escalation of Israeli occupation forces in Palestinian and Lebanese territories and its implications for international peace and security.
On this issue, the council welcomed Saudi Arabia’s call to hold a joint Arab-Islamic summit on the 11th of this month, as well as its highly valued initiative to launch an international coalition to support a two-state solution.
The Council reaffirmed Yemen's firm stance in support of the Palestinian people's right to establish their fully sovereign independent state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The Council also renewed its support for the Lebanese state, its sovereignty, and its exclusive right to control arms and decisions of peace and war. The council emphasized that stopping Israeli aggression and its brutal violations is the key to achieving the desired peace and an entry point to lifting the cover from Iran and its proxies, which are aggravating situations and attempting to co-opt the national will of the region’s peoples.
