
Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council confirms: the Council and the Government ensure to present a comprehensive solution to the issues of kicked out employees

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, met today, Saturday, at the Ma’ashiq Palace in the interim capital, Aden, the Committee for Handling the Issues of kicked out employees who were dismissed from their Jobs in the Southern Governorates. The Committee was established by a Republican Decree No. 2 of 2013.
The President listened to a brief from the head of the committee, Judge Sahl Mohammed Hamzah and the members of the committee, on the results of its work during the previous period according to the decree forming it, and the procedures required to implement its recommendations to resolve these just humanitarian and human rights issues.
The briefing included a presentation on the necessary decisions to settle the situation of about 60,000 dismissed employees in the civil, security and military fields after the summer war of 1994, at an estimated cost of about 4 billion riyals per month.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the great effort made by the committee to perform reparations for thousands of those who were dismissed from their jobs, based on reference legal mechanisms to achieve justice and fairness, as an important entry point to addressing the effects of the past, and promoting stability and social peace.
The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the keenness of the Council and the government to implement all the recommendations contained in the report of the committee to address the situation of employees dismissed from their jobs in the southern governorates, and to consider this as a national, moral and humanitarian duty, which includes an apology for all the damages caused to them during the past periods.
In this regard, the President directed the preparation of the required decisions within a week to implement the committee's recommendations, and to launch initiatives and plans to mobilize resources from local, regional and international sources to finance settlements and compensations determined by the relevant decisions.
The President also gave his directions regarding the continuation of the committee's work, overcoming the financial and administrative difficulties facing the committee and enabling it to fulfill its urgent national tasks for the present and future of the country.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Iqbal Bahadur.
