President Al-Alimi confirms State’s commitment to fully support health sector

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council( PLC), reaffirmed the commitment of the Council and the government to work along with the international community to protect the humanitarian actions community and to release the doctors who have been detained in the jails of the Houthi terrorist militias. He added, in recognition of their noble services to improve Yemeni people’s living conditions,  their health, and their available options for survival.

This came during a speech delivered by His Excellency the President today, Wednesday via video conference technology at the opening session of the First Scientific Conference on Cardiovascular Diseases, and Kidney Transplantation. The conference is organized by the Cardiovascular and Kidney Transplantation Center in partnership with Taiz University, with the participation of more than one thousand and five hundred local and foreign participants.

In his speech, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council pointed out: fortunately this conference is held a few days after the presidential visit to Taiz governorate that sanctifies education and knowledge. He expressed his hope that this conference would serve as "the beginning of diagnosing the ailments that our country suffers, especially Taiz, which has a significant role in producing qualified human resources that are in dire need of medical care."

The President stated that health and knowledge are the crucial remedies for healing this country and strengthening its immunity against all forms of ailments, including racism, illiteracy, superstition, and tyranny.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his optimism that this conference would mark as a unique beginning to the Month of the Yemeni Revolution, which places at the core of its goals, raising the economic, social, political, and cultural standards of people, serving as a gateway to bring about the desired change across various levels.

His Excellency explained that the best visitor for Yemeni people in this month and in such circumstances is the physician, as millions are in urgent need of healthcare and life-saving medicines.

He stressed that the heart of this country is not fully functioning while a significant part of it suffers an illness. This illness mainly involves hostility towards knowledge and education, where an armed terrorist group fights to take us back to ‏the first century of the Hijrah.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council noted the significant losses suffered by Yemeni people. Those losses included medical and scientific cadres, coworkers, and all its citizens—both men and women—who were left to face the COVID-19 pandemic with no access to vaccines, claiming that it was a foreign conspiracy.

He went on to say: "Today, millions of children in Houthi- controlled areas are facing death due to the rejection of routine vaccination campaigns for the same regressive reasons. Instead, they are resorting to superstitious charms that hostile to the spirit of our time, in which medicine stands as one of humanity's greatest achievements."

The president of the Presidential Leadership Council expressed his happiness that this meeting which brings together large number of scientists and Cardiologists is working for sustainable health. His Excellency recalled the importance of the conference, “which I believe is the very reason why I’m here today.” He said 

The President highly praised the success story made by the Heart Center as a model that should be emulated in various governorates.

He also expressed his aspiration that this conference, along with the its valuable medical services to be provided to citizens in the coming days, will lead to the formulation of a comprehensive health vision aimed at alleviating the suffering of Yemenis.This vision seeks to localize accessible healthcare services, rather than relying on getting treatment abroad, which exacerbates the brunt of the war ignited by the Iran – backed Houthi militias.

He said " achieving this goal is undoubtedly requires harnessing the potentials and power of science, research, digital technology, data and communications in order to move our country towards recovery and accelerate the pace in achieving the sustainable development goals".

The president of the PLC reiterated his own behalf, the PLC's members and the government thanks and gratitude to all regional and international organizations, foremost of which are the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, the UAE Red Crescent, the World Health Organization, and its various agencies for the remarkable effort in medicating Yemeni citizens during these exceptional circumstances in the history of our country.

In this context, he noted the achievements that were recently inaugurated during his visit to Taiz governorate, supported by the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the KS Relief Center, including the faculties of medicine, nursing, pharmacy and the Oncology Center as a first stage. This achievements will later include a teaching hospital and a Faculty of Dentistry as the largest medical city in the country to serve citizens from various governorates.

President Al-Alimi praised the role of young doctors who founded the nucleus of the heart center, kidney transplantation and made a miracle in the midst of suffering, conducting hundreds of open-heart operations and more than 70 kidney transplants.

He pointed out that this conference coincides with the launch of over 300 trucks loaded with dialysis solutions as the first shipment from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center to all governorates. Such ‏initiative will make this year, with the help of Allah, a turning point for the Yemeni healthcare sector.

In conclusion, His Excellency the President expressed his thanks to the leadership of the Taiz authority and Taiz University for their efforts in organizing this conference. He wished the participants success and hoped they would achieve results that meet the aspirations for serving the Yemeni healthcare and academic sectors.
