President Al-Alimi receives UK Ambassador

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Ms. Abdah Sharif, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Yemen.
The meeting touched upon bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and national developments, including gross human rights violations by the Houthi terrorist militias, the proxy of the Iranian regime, and their military escalation on various fronts.
The meeting also touched upon the ongoing catastrophic repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil installations. They also discussed the role required by the international community to alleviate the human suffering exacerbated by piracy and militia attacks on maritime ships and international shipping lines.
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and the additional British pledges to meet the needs of the Yemeni people, especially in the areas of food and health. Looking forward to more support that keeps pace with the increasing magnitude of humanitarian and service commitments, with the importance of pumping all approved international funds via the Central Bank of Yemen.This would strengthen the bank’s presence in managing monetary policy and strengthen the position of the national currency.
Regarding the peace process, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council renewed the Council and the government’s adherence to the comprehensive and just peace approach in accordance with the terms of reference agreed upon nationally, regionally and internationally. His Excellency also retreated the support of the good endeavors of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in this regard, and to be open to all initiatives that would alleviate the human suffering of the Yemeni people that have been created by the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.
The meeting also discussed British support for the Yemeni Coast Guard Forces, joint efforts to combat terrorism, arms and drug smuggling, organized crime, and the punitive measures required to deter Houthi militias’ violations of humanitarian law and relevant international resolutions.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
