President Al-Alimi meets with Prime Minister, Governor of the Central Bank, and ministers and officials concerned with economic affairs

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, has met today, Sunday, with Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ahmed Ghaleb, the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr. Salem Bin Brik, the Minister of Finance, and Mr. Mohammed Al-Ashwal the Minister of Trade and Industry, in the presence of Mr. Hossam Al-Sharjabi, the head of the Economic Committee via video call.

The meeting was briefed on a presentation by the Prime Minister, the Governor of the Central Bank, and the concerned ministers and officials regarding the economic situation, commodity stocks, and service performance during the holy month of Ramadan in light of the repercussions of the Houthi terrorist attacks on oil installations and international shipping lines.

The meeting touched upon economic and institutional performance reports, efforts to enhance monetary and financial stability, in cooperation with all state agencies, benefiting from the support and expertise of regional allies and international partners.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the government’s efforts, the measures of the Central Bank, and the Ministries of Finance, Industry and Trade to maintain monetary, financial and commodity stability, control the repercussions of the systematic measures of the Houthi militias destroying the national economy, the banking sector and community savings. He furthermore, praised the measures taken to ensure the continued fulfillment of the state’s imperative obligations, including the payment of employees’ salaries and the necessary funds to import basic goods.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the importance of redoubling efforts to strengthen means of protection for vulnerable social groups and alleviate the human suffering fueled by Houthi terrorist practices backed by the Iranian regime.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Mr. Othman Al-Haddi, the Deputy Head of the Economic Committee.
