Presidential directives to release 30 insolvent prisoners as 1st batch

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, has directed Public Prosecution to release 30  insolvent prisoners on private rights from various governorates as a first batch, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan advent. Under which the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council will settle their debts to others.

The directives also include completing the necessary procedures and measures to release more insolvent prisoners in accordance with the law, in addition to calling on businessmen and philanthropists to seize the occasion of the holy month to contribute to such great humanitarian initiatives.

The directives come days after the announcement of Judge Qahir Mustafa, the Attorney General, regarding the release of 340 prisoners who have served three-quarters or half of their sentences in non-serious cases, in implementation of the presidential directives, on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan

The list included releasing 68 prisoners who had served more than three-quarters of their sentences and 55 prisoners who had served half of their sentences. The list also included releasing 65 prisoners in cases related to private rights, after paying their debts. Additionally, the list included releasing 109 prisoners on bail and 41 prisoners who had completed their sentences. Furthermore, two prisoners were released due to the absence of any grounds for prosecution.

Presidential Leadership Council Discusses National and Regional Developments

The Presidential Leadership Council held a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Council.
