His Excellency the President, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Tuesday Chargé d'Affairs of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China to Yemen, Shao Zheng

During the meeting, they discussed the long-standing bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, and the promising prospects for expanding them and pushing them to broader horizons in various fields.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, the path of regional and international efforts to revive the political process. In addition to the Chinese pressures required to enhance the chances of peace in light of the intransigence of the Houthi militias and their continued preference for the interests of their leaders and supporters over the interests of the Yemeni people.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council affirmed the commitment of the Council and the government to a comprehensive and just peace approach based on references agreed upon locally, regionally, and internationally, in particular Resolution 2216, and considering peace to be the highest interest of the Yemeni people. While the Houthis took the option of war, escalation, and human suffering as a source of life for them and their Iranian supporters.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council welcomed what was stated in the Egyptian-Chinese statement regarding developments in the Red Sea, which stressed the importance of reducing tension in the region, and the priority of ensuring the safety and security of global navigation.

In this context, His Excellency the President reaffirmed the priority of supporting the Yemeni government to restore state institutions and strengthen its capabilities to impose security and stability on the entire national territory. As it is the best way to secure territorial waters and international shipping lines and push the Houthi militias to seriously engage with the peace efforts led by the United Nations based on the results of the good offices of brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
