PLC discusses local developments and Israeli war’s serious repercussions on international peace and security

The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC)  held a meeting today, Thursday, chaired by His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Council, and in the presence of members of the Council, Aidarous Al-Zubaidi,  Tariq Saleh, Abdul Rahman Al-Mahrami, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi,  Othman Mujali, and Faraj Al-Bahsani. while Council member,  Sultan Al-Arada was absent with an excuse.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Presidential Leadership Council congratulated the Yemeni people on the advent of the new year, hoping it will be a year of victory, goodness, and peace.

The Council reviewed an assessment of the government and local authorities’s performance during the past period, in light of developments on the national scene, especially the economic, financial, and service situation in the interim capital of Aden and the liberated governorates. In addition, the Council discussed the efforts required to restore relative stability of exchange rate and basic commodity.

In that regard, the Council affirmed the state's commitment to fully discharge its responsibilities towards citizens, improve general revenues and their accessibility in various governorates, and advance with comprehensive reforms supported by brothers and friends.

The PLC  reassured citizens that imperative obligations are continued to be fulfilled, including the payment of employees’ salaries and credits for importing basic commodities, despite the catastrophic consequences caused by terrorist Houthi attacks on international shipping lanes.

The meeting touched upon developments in the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman, that led to a roadmap for reviving a UN- led comprehensive political process, under  nationally, regionally, and internationally agreed-upon references, to ensure ending the Iran- backed Houthi militia's coup, restoring State institutions, security, stability, development, and  resolving all national issues, in the forefront the southern issue.

The Council reviewed reports on the security and military situation in the country, praising in this regard, the success achieved in enhancing security and stability in the interim capital of Aden, and liberated governorates. The council also praised the high military vigilance in various regions and fronts.

PLC was briefed on a situation assessment of the serious repercussions of the brutal Israeli war of genocide, which ‏ has dragged on for 4 months, against the Palestinian people in Gaza Strip, and its devastating impact on national, regional, and international security and peace.

The Council reiterated Yemeni people’s  firm support for  the legitimate rights of Palestinian people, most notably to fight against the brutal occupation and establish  their fully independent  and sovereign state.

The  PLC reiterated a warning to the Houthi militias that  continuing exploitation of the oppressed Palestinian people to achieve their narrow interests and dragging Yemen and its people into an international war would only exacerbate the humanitarian suffering caused by these militias since their coup against national consensus in September 2014.

In this context, the Council holds the Houthi militias accountable for the grave consequences of  their terrorist attacks against commercial vessels and turning regional waters into a stage for a  conflict of  far-reaching consequences. Such consequences include, increasing economic burdens, insurance costs, shipping, and commodity , in addition to closing an aid  lifelines to Yemeni people, and diverting the world's attention away from the Israeli occupation's serious violations against the Palestinian people, to serve the continued aggression.

The Council pointed out that this Houthi terrorist aggression is a natural result of abdication of responsibility by the international community to strengthen Yemeni government’s defensive capabilities and deter those militias that have carried out dozens of armed robberies, and maritime attacks against commercial vessels of various nationalities, in addition to oil facilities, national interests, and civilian objects in neighboring countries 

The Presidential Leadership Council issued a a number of security and administrative decisions to strengthen the home front and improve the efficiency of State institutions at various levels.
