President receives the Egyptian Ambassador to Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, Mr. Ahmed Farouk, the Egyptian Ambassador to Yemen, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and the promising prospects for strengthening them in various fields.

In the meeting, the Egyptian Ambassador conveyed to His Excellency the greetings of his brother, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and his wishes to the Yemeni people for security, stability and peace. On his part, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council asked the Egyptian Ambassador to convey his greetings to his brother, His Excellency President El-Sisi, and his wishes for him good health and happiness and for the brotherly Egyptian people all progress and prosperity under his wise leadership. 

During the meeting, His Excellency and the Ambassador reviewed the latest developments in the Yemeni situation, and the commendable efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve a ceasefire and revive the political process that has been suspended since the Houthi militia coup in September 2014 with the support of the Iranian regime.

His Excellency the President touched on the repercussions of the brutal Israeli escalation in the Palestinian territories on international peace and security, and the principled Yemeni and Egyptian position rejecting forced displacement, the attempts to liquidate the just Palestinian cause, and the legitimate right of its people to establish their independent, fully sovereign state.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the distinguished bilateral relations between the two countries and the two brotherly peoples. His Excellency commended the honorable Egyptian position alongside the Yemeni people and their republican system in various stages and circumstances, leading to its active role within the coalition to support legitimacy, and the efforts to restore state institutions, peace, stability, and development in Yemen.

The meeting was attended by Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, the Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
