The President of the Presidential Leadership Council receives the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received today, Sunday, at Ma’ashiq Palace, the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation headed by the Regional Director of ICRC for the Middle East and North Africa, Fabrizio Carbone and the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation to Yemen, Daphne Marit.

 

In the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council praised the role of the International Committee of the Red Cross in alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemeni people and protecting the victims of the war caused by the Houthi militias supported by the Iranian regime.

 

His Excellency the President encouraged the International Committee of the Red Cross to continue its coordinated humanitarian efforts with regional allies and international partners. He also encouraged them to push the Houthi militias towards seriously dealing with initiatives related to ending the suffering of thousands of detainees, abductees, and forcibly disappeared people in areas under the militia’s’ control by force, and at the forefront is revealing the fate of struggler Mohammed Qahtan who is included in the UN Security Council resolution.

 

His Excellency the President briefed the international Committee of the Red Cross Delegation on the Houthi militia's gross violations of human rights, including the suppression of voices against its sectarian and racist approach.

 

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council stressed the keenness of the Council and the government to provide all forms of support to international organizations and humanitarian relief agencies, and to facilitate the access of their interventions to those who are eligible in various parts of the country.

 

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Dr. Maryam Al-Dogani, Head of the Relief and International Cooperation Team in the Presidency of the Republic's office, the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Aden, Yan Bukhali, and the Assistant Head of the Mission, Bahaa Al-Salami.
