His Excellency the President, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, with two members of the Council, Major General Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi and Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, received at Ma’ashiq Palace today, Thursday, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi.

In the meeting, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council and the two members of the Council welcomed the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the high-ranking delegation accompanying him in the interim capital, Aden.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council briefed the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on the Yemeni developments and advancements related to the mediation efforts led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to renew the truce and build on it to launch a comprehensive political process that meets the aspirations of the Yemenis for peace, stability and development.

His Excellency also touched on the breaches and violations of the Houthi militias, their open support for terrorist organizations, and the regional and international pressures required to end the long-standing human suffering.

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council, on his behalf, the members of the Council and the government, expressed his great thanks and appreciation for the position of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and its general secretariat on the side of the Yemeni people, and its constitutional legitimacy, at various stages. Which leads to its active role in confronting the dangers that threaten the Yemeni entity, its identity, and its national economy after the Houthi militia coup backed by the Iranian regime.

He also praised the GCC's support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the legitimate government, and all efforts aimed at bringing peace and stability to the country according to the references of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism, the outcomes of the national dialogue, and the relevant international resolutions, especially Resolution 2216.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, affirmed the Council's firm position in supporting the efforts led by the United Nations to achieve comprehensive peace in Yemen based on the three references represented in the Gulf initiative, its implementation mechanism, the outcomes of the comprehensive national dialogue conference, Security Council Resolution 2216, and the implementation of the remaining of the provisions of the Riyadh agreement.

In this context, Al-Budaiwi praised the efforts made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to preserve Yemen's sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity and independence, stressing the GCC countries' support for the Presidential Leadership Council to achieve security and stability in the country.

The Secretary General of the Cooperation Council also stressed the importance of the strategic partnership between the Council and the Republic of Yemen in all fields.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, and the Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.
