President Al-Alimi Offers Condolences on Passing of Prominent Writer and Poet Mahmoud Al-Haj

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to Engineer Bassam Mahmoud Al-Haj and his brothers on the passing of their father, the late journalist, poet, and distinguished writer, Mahmoud Ali Al-Haj. The late literary figure passed away after a remarkable career marked by dedication and creativity in journalism, media, and literature.

On behalf of himself, the members of the Presidential Leadership Council, and the Government, President Al-Alimi expressed his sincere condolences and profound sympathy to the family, friends, and admirers of the late journalist and literary figure Mahmoud Al-Haj over this painful loss. He praised the deceased’s distinguished virtues, noting that the nation has lost an eminent literary and cultural figure and one of its most prominent journalists and media pioneers. The late skillfully combined principled journalism with refined poetic creativity and remained steadfast in his commitment to the values of the homeland and humanity.

His Excellency highlighted the enduring creative legacy left by the deceased and his significant contributions to enriching Yemen’s literary and poetic landscape through his timeless patriotic and lyrical poems, which reflected his profound love for his homeland, its land, its people, and the values of goodness and peace.

The President praised  the late Al-Haj’s distinguished professional career, during which he held numerous leadership positions in the press and television sectors, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of several newspapers and cultural magazines. He further praised his role as a founding member of the Yemeni Writers and Authors Union and the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate. He prayed to Almighty Allah to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness upon the deceased, grant him eternal rest in Paradise, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
