President Al-Alimi Receives Cable of Congratulations from President of Germany on National Day

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received a cable of congratulations from His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany. The German President extended his congratulations on the occasion of the 36th National Day of the Republic of Yemen, 22 May.

The cable stated: "I’d like to extend to Your Excellency and to the citizens of your country my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of Yemeni unity."

He added: "Unfortunately, the Yemeni people are also celebrating their National Day this year under difficult circumstances. There is no doubt that the war in the Middle East has serious repercussions that extend beyond the borders of the region and place their burden on all of us. Based on this background, I am following these developments with deep concern."

He continued: "The Yemeni government, under your leadership, has emerged stronger from the challenges it has faced over recent months. In this regard, reaching a political solution and returning to a political process are urgent priorities that your government can now advance with renewed momentum, particularly in light of the situation of citizens in the northern parts of your country, which has worsened due to the actions of the Houthi militia."

He pointed to what binds the Republic of Yemen and the Federal Republic of Germany, including the experience of national reunification, as well as a friendship extending over decades.

His Excellency reaffirmed Germany's commitment as a reliable partner in supporting the Yemeni people in their aspirations for peace and stability, and in continuing to stand by them in the future.
