The Presidential Leadership Council affirmed that the terrorist crime targeting the convoy of Brigadier Hamdi Shukri constitutes a new link in a series of desperate attempts to disrupt the security landscape and sow confusion. It added that this comes at a sensitive national moment in which the state, supported by its loyal brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is moving forward toward unifying security and military decision-making and restoring state institutions.

In a statement issued this Wednesday evening, the Council stressed that the state will pursue the perpetrators and all those who stand behind them, collude with them, or finance them, and will not hesitate to take all deterrent measures in accordance with the law.

The following is the full text of the statement:

The Presidential Leadership Council has followed with great concern the developments of the treacherous terrorist crime that targeted the convoy of the Commander of the Second Giants Brigade, Brigadier Hamdi Shukri. The crime resulted in the martyrdom of five heroes of our armed forces and the injury of three others while performing their national duty.

The Council affirms that this cowardly crime represents a new episode in a series of futile attempts to disrupt the security situation and sow confusion. It noted that this comes at a sensitive national moment as the state, supported by its loyal brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, advances toward unifying security and military decision-making and restoring state institutions.

As it prays for mercy upon the souls of the righteous martyrs and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded, the Presidential Leadership Council renews its pledge to the Yemeni people that the blood of the martyrs will not be shed in vain, and that the state will pursue the perpetrators and all those who stand behind them, collude with them, or finance them. The PLC will not hesitate to take all deterrent measures in accordance with the law.

The Council stresses that the state is engaged in an open confrontation with terrorism, as an existential threat to sovereignty, stability, and development. It notes that the timing of this crime and the nature of its targets reveal the extent of the dangerous collusion between terrorist groups and smuggling networks, aimed at striking the pillars of national security and weakening the state’s ability to protect its gains. It stresses that this objective will not be achieved, God willing, in the face of the vigilance of state institutions and the unity of the people around them.

In this context, the Presidential Leadership Council commends the heroic role played by the armed forces and all military and security formations—foremost among them the Second Giants Brigade—in confronting terrorism, smuggling, and organized crime. It affirms its full support for these efforts, the development of their capabilities, and their empowerment to perform their duties with high efficiency and national responsibility.

The Council also expresses its profound appreciation for the efforts of the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Prime Minister, in preserving the cohesion of Yemeni state institutions and advancing the unification of security and military decision-making. It affirms that this historic moment represents a genuine opportunity to entrench a model of regional and international partnership in combating terrorism, in a manner that enhances the security of Yemen, the region, and the world.

The Presidential Leadership Council calls on all national forces and political components to rise to the level of the challenge and to address this crime as an attack on the state as a whole. It urged unity of ranks, rejection of divisions, and protection of the gains achieved on the path toward restoring state institutions and ending the coup of the Iran-backed Houthi terrorist militias.

The Council also urges our great people to maintain heightened vigilance and not to be drawn into calls for incitement or chaos that would threaten social peace and exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. It warns that such actions would disrupt the work of state institutions and squander national gains consolidated by the blood of martyrs and the sacrifices of heroes.

Finally, the Presidential Leadership Council stresses to all security and military agencies, as well as law enforcement authorities, the need to fully assume their national responsibilities in preserving public order and strictly enforcing the state of emergency. It also emphasizes the pursuit of terrorist cells and their logistical and financial networks in a manner that ensures deterrence of such crimes and consolidates the authority of the state and the rule of law across all governorates.
