President of Presidential Council Orders Closure of Illegal Prisons, Release of Unlawfully Held Detainees

President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has directed the closure of all illegal prisons and detention centers in the liberated governorates. He ordered the immediate release of individuals held outside the framework of the law. The directive comes as part of a broader course aimed at restoring state authority and upholding respect for human rights.
According to the presidential directive, the President instructed security and military authorities, in coordination with the Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Justice, to identify all unlawful detention centers in the governorates of Aden, Lahj, and Al-Dhalea. He also ordered the preparation of an urgent plan to shut down these facilities and ensure the transfer of detainees to official, legally sanctioned institutions, or their release in cases where no lawful charges are proven against them.
