Presidential Leadership Council Decree to Revoke Aidarus al-Zubaidi’s Membership and Refer Him to the Public Prosecutor

Today, Wednesday, the Presidential Leadership Council issued a decree to revoke the membership of Aidarus al-Zubaidi in the Presidential Leadership Council on charges of high treason and to refer him to the Public Prosecutor.
The text of the decree reads as follows:
After reviewing the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen;
the Gulf Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism;
the Declaration of the Transfer of Power issued under Decree No. (9) of 2022 on the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council;
the Crimes and Penalties Law No. (12) of 1994;
Law No. (6) of 1995 concerning the procedures for accusing and trying holders of senior state offices;
the Republican Decree by Law No. (21) of 1998 concerning military crimes and penalties;
the Republican Decree declaring a state of emergency in the country following the events that occurred in the southern governorates;
the Presidential Leadership Council Decree No. (1) of 2023;
And pursuant to the powers vested in us under the Constitution and the law, in the interest of safeguarding the security of all citizens and their legitimate causes, and in affirmation of commitment to the sovereignty of the Republic;
Whereas it has been established that Major General Aidarus bin Qasim al-Zubaidi has abused the just Southern cause and exploited it to commit grave violations against civilians in the southern governorates,
harmed the political, military, and economic standing of the Republic of Yemen,
assaulted the Constitution and constitutional authorities,
obstructed the state’s efforts to confront the coup and rebellion,
incited internal strife through leading an armed mutiny, and committed serious violations against innocent citizens;
It is hereby decided as follows:
Article One: Major General Aidarus Qasim al-Zubaidi shall be referred to the Public Prosecutor and suspended from duty for committing the following crimes:
1. High treason with the intent to undermine the independence of the Republic, in accordance with Article (125) of the Crimes and Penalties Law.
2. Damaging the military, political, and economic standing of the Republic, pursuant to Article (128/1) of the Crimes and Penalties Law.
3. Forming an armed gang and committing crimes including the killing of officers and soldiers of the armed forces; exploiting and harming the just Southern cause through grave violations against civilians and sabotage of military installations and sites, in accordance with Article (126) of the Crimes and Penalties Law; and adopting a pattern of continuous armed confrontations against the armed forces with complete disregard for human lives.
4. Assaulting the Constitution and constitutional authorities, pursuant to Articles (131) and (132) of the Crimes and Penalties Law.
5. Violating the Constitution, breaching the law, and undermining the sovereignty and independence of the country, in accordance with Article (4) of the Law on the Trial of Holders of Senior State Offices.
Article Two: Aidarus al-Zubaidi’s membership in the Presidential Leadership Council is revoked.
Article Three: The Public Prosecutor shall conduct the necessary investigations and take appropriate legal action regarding the aforementioned acts in accordance with the laws in force.
