Presidential Decree Calling for Withdrawal of UAE Forces from Yemen

Today Tuesday, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, issued a decree canceling the Joint Defense Agreement with the United Arab Emirates.
The text of the decree reads as follows:
The President of the Presidential Leadership Council,
- In accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Yemen;
- The Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism;
- The Decision Announcing the Transfer of Power and the Formation of the Presidential Leadership Council;
And pursuant to the powers vested in us under the Constitution, and in accordance with Article (1), Paragraphs (1-h) and (7-h) of Decision No. (9) of 2022;
In the interest of safeguarding the security of all citizens, affirming commitment to Yemen’s unity, sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity, and in order to take all necessary measures to confront the ongoing coup by the terrorist Houthi militias since 2014;
We hereby decree:
Article 1: The Joint Defense Agreement with the United Arab Emirates is hereby annulled.
Article 2: All Emirati forces and their personnel are required to withdraw from all Yemeni territories within twenty-four (24) hours.
Article Three: The Homeland Shield Forces shall move to take control of all military camps in the governorates of Hadhramaut and Al-Mahrah.
