President Al-Alimi Praises Saudi Leadership’s Decision to Extend “Masam” Project in Yemen

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, expressed, on behalf of himself, the Council members, the government, and the Yemeni people, deep gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He praised the leadership of his brother, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for their generous directive to extend the contract of the “Masam” project to clear Yemeni lands of landmines planted by the terrorist Houthi militias.

The President praised the decision, which includes an extension of the “Masam” project implementation for an additional year with a budget of $52,994,413. He also commended the leadership of the program and its team, along with all Saudi institutions involved in humanitarian, service, and developmental efforts across various fields.

President Al-Alimi stated, “This great humanitarian effort by our brothers in the Kingdom, through the ‘Masam’ project, which has so far removed nearly 500,000 landmines and various explosive devices, embodies a noble fraternal commitment to Yemen and its people, and contributes to alleviating the suffering caused by the war ignited by the Iranian-backed terrorist Houthi militias.”

It is noteworthy that the “Masam” project, affiliated with the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, was launched in mid-2018 with Saudi expertise and international professionals, alongside trained Yemeni teams to remove all types of randomly planted landmines across Yemeni territory.

So far, the project has managed to remove more than 495,855 landmines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices, and has cleared 67,244,455 square meters of Yemeni land of mines and explosives planted by the terrorist Houthi militias.
