President Al-Alimi Receives Cables of Congratulations from Governor General of Canada on National Day

His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, received a cable of congratulations from Her Excellency Mary Simon, the Governor General of Canada, on the occasion of the 35th National Day of the Republic of Yemen, May 22.

In the cable, the Governor General stated: "On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency and the people of the Republic of Yemen on the occasion of Unity Day."

Her Excellency added: "This occasion reminds us of Yemen’s rich cultural heritage and its contributions to Arab history, as well as the steadfast principles that laid the foundation for your nation’s unity. Despite the challenges Yemen currently faces, Canada remains optimistic about the prospects for a peaceful resolution and Yemen’s ability to achieve its full potential in the coming years."

Her Excellency, Ms. Simon, reaffirmed Canada’s solidarity with Yemen during this difficult period and reiterated its continued support for efforts to restore stability and security throughout the country.
