Yemen’s Ambassador to USA Takes Constitutional Oath Before President Al-Alimi

Today, Thursday, at the headquarters of the Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Riyadh, His Excellency Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of Ambassador Abdulwahab Abdullah Ahmed Al-Hajri on the occasion of his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United States of America.

Following the oath, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council met with Ambassador Al-Hajri and urged him to fully assume his responsibilities in representing the Republic of Yemen as the head of its diplomatic mission in Washington. He emphasized the importance of working to safeguard Yemen’s interests and serve its citizens residing in or visiting the United States, in a manner that reflects the longstanding bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.

President Al-Alimi reiterated his appreciation for the ongoing reforms in Yemen’s diplomatic corps and stressed the importance of doubling its efforts to garner international support, maintain global unity in backing the Yemeni people, and help them restore their national institutions and end the coup by the Iran-backed Houthi militia.

He also emphasized the vital role of Yemeni diplomatic missions in effectively engaging with developments during this critical phase and responding proactively to current changes at all levels.

In this context, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council highlighted the importance of creatively promoting the vision of a just state sought by the Yemeni people and exposing the grave human rights violations committed by the terrorist Houthi militia, which he described as a constant threat — not a temporary one — to international peace and security.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shuaibi, Director of the Presidency Office.
